My parter and I will be doing some mountain biking in UT the week of May 8. We’ll be doing some car camping, but since we’re flying we have a nuisance dilemma we’ve faced before on similar trips:
-
We’ll have to buy camping stove fuel when we arrive, but will have 90% of it left over before we fly back. Huge waste, annoying disposal.
-
We’ve typically bought cheap, styrofoam coolers from WalMart or grocery stores that we’ve thrown out at the end of the trip. They aren’t designed to last anyway, but a real cooler would be preferrable.
We thought we’d take a stab at the Dope and ask: does anyone in Salt Lake City or Moab have a cooler we can borrow for a week in exchange for a nearly full can of camp-stove fuel? There’s only two of us, so it doesn’t need to be an enormous cooler, just something that will keep are perishables cool on hot, sunny days.
Also, if anyone has any other creative solutions to the issues above, please do share. This is an issue we face often when we are travelling by plane with camping as part of our activities.
