I loved Sam Shepard, and he was great in The Right Stuff. But he’s no Chuck Yeager. Not only is Yeager still going strong, but he’s still flying. In fact, in 2012 he broke the sound barrier again in an F-15 Eagle, at the age of 89. He once had 20/10 vision, and apparently at 95 he still has 20/15 vision. The man is a freak of nature. He and Buzz Aldrin will probably outlive us all.
Sam Shepard and Barbara Hershey in The Right Stuff is still one of the hottest couples on screen.
I saw Fool For Love with Sam Rockwell a couple of years ago and noted this from one of the NYT articles about it:
<<For one thing, Mr. Shepard has been dropping by during previews, adding lines to a script that already instructs that it be performed “relentlessly without a break.”>>
I thought he was good in Thunderheart but I’m kind of biased because that movie was filmed here in South Dakota and I was working near the Badlands in Wall when it was being filmed. The only actor I saw from the movie was Graham Greene when he stopped to get gas at the station I was working in at the time.
