Roy Scheider, Chief Brody from “Jaws,” has died at age 75.
The rest of the world may remember him for Jaws, but to me he will always be Joe Giddeon in All That Jazz.
He was also in the coolest helicopter movie of all time: Blue Thunder. A great actor.
Oh no!
How terrible am I that I thought the thread title was referring to Dom DeLuise?
He was awesome in Naked Lunch!
One of my favorites. That surprises me. Looks like he was still working (or just stopped).
Sail on Cheif Brody. Jaws was and is still one of the best films of all time and only he could temper the manic Richard Dreyfuss and the sublime Robert Shaw into what was truly a great threesome.
Dupe threads reported.
Oh, now that makes me sad. He was one of my favorites. Nobody else could have played Bob Fosse like he did. Or Brody.
Dupe threads merged.
Thanks, that makes my comment about the other title make no sense. Oh well, it was an awful comment anyway and I feel bad. Unfortunately it’s too late to edit that post.
Anyway, I always thought Roy Scheider was kind of sexy in Jaws.
Otto’s title is still on his OP…I didn’t think to look for it until I saw the merge comment, but at least your joke isn’t an entirely orphaned bit of anti-taste.
We will no longer be needing a bigger boat.
That’s some bad news, Harry.
Anyone else remember seaQuest DSV? That show rocked.
RIP Captain Bridger.
“Well Murph, feeling any pressure?”
“Yeah. About 15 pounds per square inch at sea level.”
That’s where I first met Roy.
RIP Captain. At least you outlived Lucas.
That’s always the first role I’ll remember him in. 8 year old me could not have been more fired up about a movie.
A shame to be sure, I was enjoying Jaws the other week on satellite too.
I remembered the cancer when I watched it too, I thought he might not have long to go.
