Halfrek was a friend of Anya, not Spike. Her first interaction with Spike, which only helped fuel the Halfrek = Cecily faction (but was probably just Joss or whoever messing with the fans) was a quizzical “William?” when the two met. (Spike’s real name being William, in case anyone else reading this doesn’t know.) This was never followed up on, hence the “messing with the fans” guess on my part.
Speaking of Buffy, the vampire she talks to in the graveyard in Conversations With Dead People shows up as a different character the following year on Angel.

Another AYBS double character was Joanna Lumley, the His and Hers perfume girl and later the German customer.
