Sandra Dee Died Today

I was fortunate to have met Sandra Dee while she was doing Love Letters in Los Angeles. She drove to the theater every day in her Rolls, and she had lots and lots of fans waiting for her backstage every night. She was gracious to them all, and it was a flashback to the fifties to see her “pose” for the cameras…she would hold her position while cameras were flashing, and she didn’t move a muscle the whole time!

She was also friendly to everybody…from the fans, to the ushers, to the cleaning lady. The woman was exactly the same as her perky, friendly character on film. I remember my shock when I met her son…he was the spitting image of Bobby Darin and it was almost scary to see him standing next to his mother.

She was a lovely lady, and sorry to hear this news.
