Saskatchewan is in the Brier!

The local boys are going up against Brad Gushue for Canada; down 2-1 in the 4th.

Hurry! Hurry hard!

Curling?

Och aye!

Sask is sitting 2, nicely buried, but Canada has the hammer.

5-2

Gushue managed to squeeze one out; Sask is sitting 2; stole 2 from Gushue!

Now Canada 5, Sask 4

Gushue score two with the hammer, Macewen came back with 1, so 7-5.

Awk! Macewen was light with his guard. Gushue took it out and is sitting shot.

Macewen now sitting shot. Just barely.

Gushue does a run-back; score 2; 9-5.

Gushue is Canadian champion. Again!

Off to the Worlds in Switzerland.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a professional hog a stone before.

Does he owe a dollar to the league coordinator?

This affair is the Canadian version of farnakling, maybe?

Courtesy of the inestimable talents of John Clark.

Oh my goodness, there’s a video of him there with hair.

Have you ever seen The Games, @penultima_thule?

Watched it avidly on TV, have the dvds.
Have been following Mr Clarke since before he migrated to Oz from Kiwiland as Fred Dagg etc.

I stumbled on an episode on PBS about the time it was new. I think it took me a while to figure out it was supposed to be funny, but it became one of my favorite series ever. But, being in the States, I almost never find anyone else who’s even heard of it.

I made a shot for the ages last night. Tie game, last end, playing vice. The other team had a rock on the edge of the four-foot, guarded, but not quite perfectly. I came through a tiny gap, took out their stone, and rolled about a foot. They had two shots to try to outcount me, but couldn’t.

Okay, maybe not “for the ages”, but it was pretty darn good.
