Satellite Internet, Streaming Video and Time Shifting

In the summer I live in a rural area. My only option for high speed internet is satellite which comes with bandwidth restrictions. Watching Amazon Prime movies or Netflix would be out of the question because with one or two movies, I will have exceeded my limit. However from 12am-5am there are no such bandwidth restrictions.

Is there a device or method with which I could schedule these movies or other online content to download during these times when I am asleep for later viewing? And mods, I am not asking a question about piracy or anything else illegal. Since I am permitted to watch these movies at any time, including when I am downloading them, I think that this would be legal time shifting under Sony v. BetaMax. But if I am definitely wrong about this, then I will cease asking.

Thanks in advance.

PlayLater seems like something that could work. It cannot pre-schedule recording, but there must be a way around that. It is also not free.

As an aside, while this time-shifting seems to be legal, it is definitely against the Netflix’s and Hulu’s Terms of Service.

I use Chromecast to cast Netflix from my desktop to my TV. I suspect I could take the video out signal on my TV and feed it into a DVR and that would be that.

You would basically have to let Netflix run all night, but you could schedule the DVR to turn off and on.

But what I suggest you do is buy a large portable drive and do your downloading now so you don’t need to worry if your satellite will download correctly. You can also get used media via eBay and garage sales.
