Saturday Night Live Movies

Bill Murray’s character was Todd

Just be glad they never made a “The Whiners” movie.

Maybe this was just the product of a high-fever dream, but I recall a “Toonces the driving cat” TV special. Well, at least I thought I saw it advertised. Can anyone confirm this?

I seem to recall seeing Spinal Tap on SNL before the movie came out, but it could have been close enough to it that they were promoting it rather than creating the basis.

No, Spinal Tap was already made when they did SNL. However, in that same show, they also introduced The Folksmen in a sketch and performance (They did a mocumentary interview, then played “Ea A Joe”). The Folksmen, of course, later became a part of the movie A Mighty Wind. So that’s one more we can add to the “Win” category for SNL movies.

Oh, and it’s worth noting that Christopher Guest and Harry Shearer were SNL cast members at the time.
