Saudi Arabia is planning on building a 170-kilometer long, 200 meter wide, mirror-sided city called The Line, which is planned to be self-sustaining and carbon neutral. It’s expected to cost $500 billion.
Every 17km there will be a boning room where dissidents can be recycled in a carbon neutral fashion.
As a context free post of a wiki article, without explanation or commentary in the OP, why should this pro-Saudi propaganda not be deemed and treated as spam?
nevermind
Because your OP merits nothing more constructive
It was interesting, and I am not sure that the OP merits a steaming dump taken on it. Whatever floats your boat I guess.
Because this is MPSIMS which says right on the tin it’s for sharing mundane points things. This OP jumps that low hurdle easily IMHO.
As to the proposal it’s idiotic and will never happen.
1 million people is a lot smaller a population than I thought it’d have.
It sounds like the most expensive dystopian sci-fi film set ever!
But think of how much we’ll save on shooting the next Judge Dredd reboot!
It certainly has Rome’s 1 kilometer residential complex Corviale comfortably beaten. It is worth a virtual trip:
Moderator Note
It’s definitely not spam.
You have a point that the OP is a bit too context-free, but that doesn’t mean that this is pro-Saudi propaganda. Sharing something that is very different is not necessarily an advertisement for such.
This isn’t an announcement for investors. It’s just sharing a wikipedia article. There’s no need to attack the OP.
If this is an experimental city, then why make it so large … err long?
FWIW, the wiki article has one sentence at the end that mentions some criticisms of the idea.
It’s not all Saudi Chamber of Commerce stuff.
Why the seemingly arbitrary orientation? I’d have guessed it would line up along the coast.
And, looking at the map, Saudi is a lot bigger than I’d thought.
I haven’t read the Wikipedia article but how can a city be 110 miles long and have no cars or roads?
Musk’s Hyperloop?
Everything you need is supposed to be within a 5 mintes’ walk. I guess if it’s outside of a five minute walk, you don’t need it.
It will also have a high-speed rail system running along the length of the thing, for all your more-than-five-minutes’-walking-distance needs.
What’s the mirrored part for? Camouflage? Mirror industry jobs? Just to fuck with birds? Can you imagine coming up on this thing from outside? Bad enough that you have the desert sun on your back, now you have another one in your face.
Is it just that the outside is mirrored to keep it cool?
