The Brits took decades of sustained bombing/shootings from the IRA on the chin. Took a hit and just kept on going. The Irish nationalists didn’t have the money or influence of the Saudies though. Again, this is not to do with fear of bombings and everything to do with money.
This all makes me think of the old man who had lived through the blitz and survived the Canary Wharf bombing, bleeding and bandaged after the 7/7 bombings his reaction was “We’ve been bombed by better bastards than this”.
That’s the Britain I’m familiar with. Their reaction to 7/7 was what I expected. They metaphorically dusted themselves off, insulted the attackers and moved on.

I’ve always been somewhat ambivalent about displays of bravado particularly in the present day. I just don’t think yours and my generation is made of the same stuff. Your response awakens my deep respect for the British people particularly of that time. Churchill’s speeches, blood toil tears and sweat, the Queen Mother, stiff upper lip and all. When ever the Battle of Britain comes on the telly I watch it.
Given a chance, people might just surprise you. In 1999 London’s gay community was targeted by a bomber who attacked gay bars:
“Two people have been killed and more than 80 injured in a nail bomb blast at a gay pub in Soho, central London.”
During this time, I knew a large number of people, gay and straight, who made a point of continuing to go to gay bars, just because they would not let some arsehole with a chemistry set dictate their lives. Also I do not know a single person who stopped using the tube following 7/7.
It’s just a shame that our government are a cowardly, inept, incompetent, immoral bunch of wankers who’d rather cave in without pause than actually try to stick to a principle. They might find their electorate would have supported them.
No, we’re not, but there’s nothing wrong with emulating it. For the most part, Londoners have refused to be cowed by intermittent bombings of varying degrees of deadliness, over the last sixty-something years, and I hope this trend continues.
Not just Londoners jjimm Britons as a whole have refused to be cowed.

even as part of the foreign horde encroaching on being British with my fancy foreign values, I endeavored to emulate the best of British. After 7-7, I was back on tubes and buses just as soon as I could use them to get to work. I was out on Haymarket directly after the attempted carbombing (at the Sportsbar around the corner).
I’m greening myself up as much as possible, and try to not support radical causes including being as fuel efficient as I can.
