I just googled “Verizon pay bill online” and got this link:
On it, it says “Make a payment now without registering or signing in.
Please note that payments made
without signing in to My Verizon will be processed by a vendor who will charge a $3.50 service fee per payment. Avoid this fee by signing in or registering.” to the right, under “Paying your bill?”.
I’d bet you can simply register there, then you can pay without the 3.50 fee. Give it a try. Among other things, they’ll make your bill available online (we’re paperless ourselves). And they appear to have a drawing right now to win a Toyota Prius - says we’ve got 2 entries already for having the “my verizon” account and for being paperless. If I were to have it deducted directly from checking, it’d get me a third entry.
This is precisely what we did, some long time ago. You can have the bill paid automatically (from bank account or from a credit card). No fees are involved.
Oh, I’m sure they do! And if there’s no other way to pay electronically, I’d definitely say screw’em on the 3.50 unless it was that, or incurring a late fee (that time I screwed up my credit card payment, the 15 bucks was a LOT cheaper than the alternative).
