I had a sudden desire to know where they filmed the beach landings for Saving Private Ryan. I popped the DVD in the machine and soon found the answer, Ireland.
This led me to review the “Thank You” credits (Thanks to the people of Bollywog, The Council of Wessex…) In the second column, there it is, “Fruit of the Loom.” Why? Does FotL have a battlefield reenactment unit? Did they provide fresh underwear for Mr. Speilberg?
Regarding your Thread title, I feel compelled to advise that the word “underpants” is always funnier then the word “underwear”. I may say “underwear” when matter-of-factly discussing my personal attire. However, when deciding on a catchy and/or funny Thread title, when making a joke, or when discussing personal attire for the benefit of entertaining others- I would always use the word “underpants”.
ETA: Yes, follow the link in Post#2 for an excellent example.
which has dozens of pages listing everyone listed in the movie’s credits list. It gives links to almost everybody EXCEPT the “Special Thanks” and one other group.
No idea why, unless they donated a bunch of skivvies to get their name in the credits (for those few of us who sit thru them)(the credits, not the skivvies). There must have been a lot of soiling going on. I felt like soiling mine when I visited the cemetery at St. Laurent-sur-Mer in Normandy, the resting place of 9,387 U.S. military from WWII, after I was separated from my two years active duty in France.

The landing scenes were filmed on the east coast of Ireland.
At the time, Fruit of the Loom had its European base in Donegal, north-west Ireland (IIRC they have since shut and laid everyone off). I bet you they provided some kind of support* to the crew and cast during filming.
