I think the “logic” employed here is this:
Jane Fonda and John Kerry were at the same anti-war rally.
Therefore Jane Fonda and John Kerry share political views.
Therefore John Kerry supported the Viet Cong and betrayed POWs to their captors.
Simple, ain’t it?
Nature abhors a vacuum.
Interesting point to make would be that at least Kerry had the validity to protest a war (police action) that he’d ALREADY BEEN SHOT UP IN.
That’d make me protest too. Wasn’t he also involved in a senate hearing involving POW’s?
At least Bush had the sense not to attack Kerry over this.

Kerry did testify to the Senate about the war at the time, yes. Later, he chaired a commission looking into the POW issue.
There are definitely people who would like this election to be about the 70’s and the candidates actions during that time. I can’t see that happening. It’s going to boil down to four years of presidental actions and twenty years of senate votes. This kind of material just gives the cable guys something to fill air time with.
