I like this one because I think someone in 1985 would totally believe this was a problem we’d have in the 21st century, but 100% misunderstand why its a problem. Like, if you’d told 1985 me this would be a problem, I’d entirely assume “anti-robot prejudice” was the issue.
It’s okay to make a claim along these lines, but you have phrased it in a transphobic way, describing a trans man as “a mediocre make athlete who declares they are female”
Please try to be less hostile to potential trans readers in your phrasing.
And writing as a poster, you’d be wrong. There was quite a lot of press coverage about male-to-female trans athletes in the late 70s. In particular, Renee Richards was in the bed when she competed in 1976 in the US open (tennis). I’m not sure the conversation has changed very much since then, especially regarding sports.
