Went to Tractor Supply for horse treats and there was a truck selling meat outside. Twenty Ribeyes for $39? Heh, right. Did not stop, but heard from others that the ribeyes are 1/4 inch thick and might make a good cheesesteak were they not mostly gristle. Hard upsell, crap meat.

They are still left in the airport storage facility till today. Anyway, I recently got a text from a fast pass lane thing saying I needed to pay a toll or face a hefty fine. This is from a state I haven’t lived in, or been in, in a while. While I thought it was probably a scam I was worried that maybe a plate scanner erred and misread someone else’s plate for my old one. I searched and found news reports on this very scam. Then it dawned on me: The state has no idea what my cell phone number is, do they? I never gave them that number for any reason. Just our “landline” (VoIP) on old tax forms. Well, that settled it.

One nice thing about keep your old numbers after a move is that 99+% of calls from there are spam and can just be ignored. (The rest are in the phone book are relatives, who have also moved but kept nos.)

That Fast Pass thing sounds like my Parking scam from back in March.

I also got a new one by email (I erased it so no example). The Census bureau wanted me to fill out a questionnaire. The questions seemed relevant but became increasingly tilted toward personal identification. They got to a block requesting my email (they already new this, that’s how I got the request); the form kept rejecting my innocuous address *****@gmail.com. That’s where I pulled the plug. Why would a real email address get rejected? Who designed this form? Anyway, Sam Spade will go down as incomplete in whatever scam was running.
