I haven’t used my scanner in a while, and recently every picture I’ve scanned has a blue and green streak on it.

I’ve tried unplugging it for a while, but it’s still there when I restart it.

What’s causing this?

Can I fix it?

I had a similiar problem with my Scanjet 2100C. It’s a USB-type and I’m running WinME. Here’s what I did:

  1. Under Device Manager, I “removed” the scanner from the hardware list.

  2. I unplugged the power supply from the scanner.

  3. I restarted the computer.

  4. Plugged in the power supply so that the computer would “recognize” the scanner and allowed it to find the operating software.

  5. Problem solved. YMMV.
