Scariest movie trailers?

What are the scariest movie trailers you can think of? links if you have them, please.

Not the scariest movies, mind you, but the scariest trailers. It’s fine if the trailer ended up being much better than the movie, and made you mad because you thought the movie would be scarier, like Cold Creek Manor.

So, your nominations?

The Strangers trailer, in my opinion, was very good. Gave me chills and was probably more terrifying-looking than the movie itself.

Monkey Shines

It was a very scary trailer when I was eight, but the movie is shit.

I’m still a bit miffed that IMDB removed my Strangers thread. People thought that saying it had a strong anti-smoking message was funny (first there’s smoking. Then friend-beating. And then the stabbings…). Then poof, it was gone.

But yes, it was a scary trailer. What I don’t get, though, is how a trailer for a 1978 movie called “Magic” ended up on people’s lists on other message boards. It’s on youtube. It’s…boring.

The trailer for White Noise was a hell of a lot scarier than the actual movie.

Beyond the Door. This used to scare the hell out of me when I was 5 or so and saw it on television. I never forgot it.

In the Seventies when I was a kid it seemed as if there were a lot of scary movie trailers on TV that would give me nightmares. They might look silly if I went back and looked for them now, but back then . . .

I especially hated trailers for insect and arachnid-centered scary movies. “Kingdom of the Spiders” is one title that I remember. The most vivid scene, though, was in a trailer for some movie about flesh-eating cockroaches.

Was is Bug? Pretty good movie for its time.

It looks like it might be it. I just remember one scene in particular, where the cockroaches were eating human meat (I thought), and yup, that’s in there.

Bleargh.

Mrs. Doubtfire.

I always thought the trailer for Ju-on was pretty creepy.

The first time I saw the trailer for The Others it creeped me out (and my friend as well, who is harder to creep out.)

I was just wondering of spoofs were allowed. The original Mary Poppins spoof always creeped me out. Specifically the part with the two kids running around the back of the building.

It shows almost nothing, but the first teaser for The Blair Witch Project was pretty dang effective.

Aww. I actually kind of liked the movie. It was a lot less “scientifically” based than the trailer mislead you to believe, though.

Has anyone else had the misfortune of watching Dark Floors? I’m still not entirely sure what “eurovision” is, but I certainly didn’t realize from the trailer that they were going to be menaced by a European equivalent of Slipknot.
