Scavenger Hunt!!!

So you think you’re smart? Or… So you think you’re bored? Or even… So you think you can’t pass up a challenge?

Well whatever your reason, I’ve spent the day setting up a Scavenger Hunt on my site! To play, you will need to download the Third Voice plugin (www.thirdvoice.com) which is pretty cool anyway. As much as I prefer Netscape

The winner gets a special Surprise Gift (as yet to be chosen) and the rest get fame and notoriety. Actually, the top 5 or so might get something more…

So what are ya waiting for??

Opal,
Thirdvoice wouldn’t work with Windows NT. I am so bummed!!

Some mornings it just doesn’t seem worth it to gnaw through the leather straps.

Yeah it was OK. I was a little miffed at having to learn how to use Third voice, and I’m always a bit tenative about downloading software (I guess I trust you since I did it ;)), and it took me a while to figure how to turn it off, and I use Netscape so I ignored you advice. I didn’t have any problems. I probably shouldn’t have said I finished because that may discourage anyone else from doing it.

Being the consumate procrastinator, and always looking for creative ways to waste time I had a field day.

As for ways to make it more fun, well I’m not known for my creativity and sense of humor so I’m not the best one to ask. What, if any, are your ulterior motives? That could help. If your eager to get people to read your site and learn about you then the current set up is good. If you want to make money from clicks then you could post notes on sponsor sites. I don’t know if you care about that stuff or not, but its a creative way to do it.

One way to keep it open to more compitition might be nice, now its just a first come first serve basis, maybe you could send an e-mail containing the initial clues and then take the difference in time stamps to determine who got it the fastest. But anyone with two email addresses could cheat, so maybe that wouldn’t work.

Now I’m just babbling, anyways I think you should try it again. Maybe take it to other websites, and really challenge us. Include tricky clues that we’d need to research to get right. Make it like Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego, or even better Zork. Or you could just make it kinky and link to porn and you’d have people lining up to play, but maybe they won’t admit to winning then :).

Heh. My motives are 1) provide someone with a fun reason to come to my site and 2) get people to see more of my site

I don’t have any click-thru programs. All the affiliate programs I have are percentage of sales.

Anyway, the main reason I’m a little wary of taking it to other sites is that they can change/move content at any time, and then what would I do? Heh. I do want to make future ones harder, but the first one I wanted to be easy enough that anyone who bothered to stick through it would be able to finish.

I think the first 5 people will all get prizes. And I think I know what it will be, but I ain’t sayin’ yet.

I did it, and it was lots of fun. Opalcat has a very interesting website, and/or WAY too much time on her hands.

I did have a little trouble. I have NetScape, and the beta version of Third Voice caused it to crash a couple of times. Alright, lots of times. 5 clues, 7 crashes. Plus some annoying bugs.

But it was worth it.

Where’s my prize!!!

Yeah, the Netscape version needs some work. The MSIE one is more stable… so hopefully they’ll get it working for Netscape soon

Glad you enjoyed the hunt! I’ll probably do a new one in a couple of months.
