Scene in the Exorcist

In the beginning of the movie where Chris (Regan’s mother) is walking down a Georgetown street and notices Father Karras in a somewhat heated argument with another priest…but most of the dialogue is drowned out by the whine of a jet engine: inserted in post-production to cover up some too-sensitive subject the Catholic Church would object to?

Not that I have ever heard.

So my initial reaction would be no, pending some evidence to the contrary.

He’s not arguing with the other priest, he’s being counseled by him (or vice-versa). The priest is undergoing a crisis of faith (as is Karras himself, but I think the scene implies it’s the other guy - my memory is hazy) and is discussing this with the other priest.

ETA: Yeah, the other priest is being counseled but Karras is also undergoing the same issue. In the movie it seems like his job is counseling other priests… don’t recall if this was his function in the book.
