Hey! Does anyone have any ideas for a scholarship application letter? I can write fairly well, but have never submitted an application before and am not sure where to begin. Here are the questions;
List and describe personal, professional and or civic experiences.
Tell us about your academic and professional achievements.
Identify areas of interest and ways in which you intend to contribute to the university community or write about how a degree can impact your career success.
I’m just not too sure how to put all of this into words that are actually coherent and all.
Any thoughts?
I struggled when writing my letter for PhD application, but I eventually prevailed and got accepted somewhere so there must be something in the letter that appealed to the members of the committee. If you like, I’d be happy to send it to you so you can have a look at it. It just might help.
Thanks! I’m having a hard time getting started.
I’d start by writing down any “personal, professional and or civic experiences” and “academic and professional achievements”. Don’t worry about the format or coherency. Treat it as a resume first. Once that’s done, see if there is any way to logically go from one experience or achievement to another.
You want this book. Although the title suggests that it’s specific to grad school, the advice inside is very good for a scholarship application.
Do you have a CV that you can work from?
Thanks for the advice. This looks like a great book! I ordered a copy. I have a feeling I’ll be using it more than once.
Since the OP is seeking advice, this is better suited for IMHO than GQ.
