School lockdown!

Whoa. So I’m sitting here in the computer lab, and my school is currently locked down. Apparently, some crazy guy brought guns to the school and is trying to kill his girlfriend who attends school here. I saw cops roaming the school from the door window. I also already tipped off the media.

Jr. High, High School or College?

Did you lock the lab door?

Apparently the situation is resolved. Pretty scary, though.

High school. Yes, we locked the doors.

Is everyone ok?

Yes.

Mt. Lebanon High, according to news reports. The suspect is believed to be a non student armed with a knife.

Resolved now, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Mt. Lebanon, just to fill non-'Burgh Dopers in, is a prosperous suburb in Allegheny County’s South Hills, south of Pittsburgh.

The school has a good academic reputation.

According to news reports, it was a 23 year old guy who assaulted a 16 year old girl in a bathroom while armed.

The girl is fine, apparantly. No word on whether there was a relationship between them.

No confirmation, either, on what kinds of weapons were involved.

The suspect was arrected at his home, but there are some official doubts about the initial story.

Wow, better than fark.

Breaking News (ok, maybe like 75 minutes old)

The whole thing is BS. Well, the lockdown was real, but the girl made the whole thing up. I’m not sure if she admitted it, but the principal announced that she had made it up.

Scandalous!

Shat.

Sometimes, the internet scares me…

From the Mt. Lebanon School District website:

High School Lock Down Update

At 2:00 p.m. this afternoon a joint press conference with Mt. Lebanon Police Department and the Mt. Lebanon School District was held at the Public Safety Building. At that time, Police Chief Tom Ogden reported: “This morning a 16 year old Mt. Lebanon High School student falsely reported a knife attack at the high school. The incident never occurred. At no time was there any attack on a student. The student has been charged with filing a false police report. There was never any threat to students and staff at Mt. Lebanon High School.”

Based on the information provided by the Mt. Lebanon Police Department we will be conducting our own internal investigation. At the conclusion of that investigation we will determine what actions may be appropriate.

High school counselors and school nurses continue to be available if needed.

The safety of our students and staff are of utmost importance to the district. There was a coordinated effort between the school district and police department to implement our Safety and Security plan. We’d like to thank our staff and our students for remaining calm and for carefully following the procedures of our safety plan.

We would also like to thank the Mt. Lebanon Police Department and neighboring police departments for responding so quickly to this incident.

What you really should be afraid of, Master Wang-Ka, is teenage girls with twenty-two year old boyfriends, and a grudge.

Somehow, though, I’m sure you’re aware of that.

Good luck in the chalkboard jungle! Keep canned goods and bottled water handy for your lockdowns.
