Schroder's Cat HELP!

So my girl wants this book …

and I can not find it ANYWHERE…it is slowly but surly driving me mad…
so I put this out to all of you in the know …any help or direction pointing would be so very appreciated

Thank you all in advance!

and MERRY HOLIDAYS!

I think because it’s not “schroder’s” it’s “Schrodinger’s”

I could be wrong, but “Schrodinger’s Cat” turned up more results on amazon than “Schroder’s Cat”

Can you give a full title, and maybe the author/editor too? What’s the book’s subject? Give this info so people can actually help you…

Happy Holidays to you too.

Ahh the joys of my misspellings !

Thanks for the correction Lobsang…that helped alot !

guess I should ask her to spell it next time

Glad to help.

It’s by Robert Anton Wilson. I had trouble finding it at first on Amazon, but if you search Amazon for the ISBN 0440500702 it comes up.

Thanks to you as well SuperNelson!

was exactly what I needed

It’s usually in the SF section. Maybe metaphysics, but probably not. Try large independant bookstores, and ask an employee. It’s a thick, large-format paperback with a cover of a cat, a dolphin(?), a chessboard(?), etc… on a black background. The authors are Robert Anton Wilson and Robert Shea.

It should be right next to a similar-looking book called the Illuminatus! Trilogy. If she hasn’t read that yet, then get her both! One should read Illuminatus! first.

And you should read them too… They’re cult classics.

(The promo goes that Illuminatus! will blow your mind, and Schroedinger’s Cat will show you how to blow others’ minds. It’s mostly true.)

If you can’t find either, look for a book by Wilson called Cosmic Trigger (not Cosmic Trigger II, just Cosmic Trigger). Also under SF or metaphysics.

Other recommendations:

  • Principia Discordia, by R. U. Sirius
  • Exo-Psychology, by Dr. Timothy Leary
  • Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas by Hunter S. Thompson
  • The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test by Tom Wolfe
check her bookcase to make sure she doesn’t own what you’re gonna buy.

Also check used bookstores, fnord.

Did you misspell your name too?

Just curious. It seems it ought to be spelt “MXYZPTLK” but I could be mistaken.

This page agrees with you, Qadgop. It also has a .wav that plays, which has Mr. Mxysptlk saying his name. He pronouces it “Mix-i-zpit-lik” or “Mik-sez-pit-lik”. You be the judge.
