I thought that this would be a much more interesting topic, as there are few movies that do this.

Star-Trek films do so.
Some people have said that this is a reason for it’s longevity. In an overall benign universe you can always continue to add new bad stuff, otherwise, once the main badness has been defeated the story is over.
