You mean the link didn’t work? It works for me when I use it.

I may try that later. If that is your question then the answer is no. The bible is a book period. I don’t believe God wrote any books. I place value in the teachings of Jesus as I do the teachings of Buddha. {which are remarkably similiar by the way} I don’t value the bible any more than I do my books by Babba RAm Dass or Wayne Dyers new Power of Intention series. They are all just tools of study.
Let me pose a question. Is there anything Jesus said that you think science has demonstrated to be false?
[QUOTE=cosmosdan]
No, not my link, my attempt to put spaces between the parts of the link, to show what it looks like disasembled, or in diagraming terms, exploded.
I was trying to demonstate how to use words with a link, and that was just my example, not my question. My question was the one you said was too silly to answer back in post 174. Remember:
I responded that it seemed to be quite literal, and would solve the question once and for all. You simply responded to Bryan’s posts.
I saw that, but I did not connect it with my example. So, jesus said one thing. I quoted it directly. It supported my case. You put together a paraphrase of what jesus said, and it seemed to contractdict my case, but it was a paraphrase. It would seem to contradict itself.
please remind me of your direct quote and any explanation of how they contradict each other.
It’s pretty easy to pull selctive verses out to support a particular view. Christians do it all the time. I try to look at the sum of what Jesus said.I’ll be glad to consider anything you think is a contradiction or consider anything you have concerning my proposal.
Because the only real distinction between “manipulate” and “influence” is that the first might be a little more subtle and a little more energetic than the second.
Influence is something we have to do. Its a by product of interaction. It doesn’t infer that the influence is a conscious effort to change someone else. I suppose it could mean that under certain circumstances. MAnipulate is a conscious effort to change someone usually to serve your own purpose.
I was talking about how a person who because of his or her beliefs, strives to be honest, kind, and compassionate, might influence others to do the same simply by their presence and sincerity, with no conscious effort to change anybody.
Yes, and I explained to you that the faith you described in that post is NOT the faith Jesus spoke of. There is no contradiction.
The faith you spoke of is what a child gets when you tell him fire is hot. The faith I spoke of is what he gets when he touches the fire. Belief born of personnel first hand expirience. See the difference?
