Scooby Doo (otherwise known as WORST MOVIE EVER!!)

I happen to love Mr. Bean!!!
Matthew Lillard was great in ‘Hackers’

I had no desire to see Scooby doo… the CGI looked horrible. I can’t stand Freddie Prinze jr… especially with blonde hair. Looks so fake. And other than Buffy, I don’t really care for Sarah Michelle Gellar. Looks like a wait for cable movie.

I wouldn’t say that the monster was always a guy in a mask. Sometimes it was a remote-conrolled robot, or it was an image (usually ghosts) that was generated by an ordinary projector. I have to agree that the basic premise of each episode was about the same. One would think that after awhile it would have occurred to them to corner the bad guy and pull off his mask first thing before getting scared out of their wits, falling into trap doors, disappearing into secret passageways, etc. for the next half hour.

OTOH, watching SD after school was a good excuse to put off starting my homework.

No way; that’s just plain wrong; until the episodes with Scrappy, there was always (at least in every episode I can find a summary of) a rational explanation. -Check out the episode synopses here

Which CGI Transformers are you referring to?

The Transformers: Generation 2 had a (pathetic) CGI title page, but the episodes were reruns.

The Beast Wars CGI cartoon was actually rather well-written, overall. Definitely catch the second and third seasons for some seriously adult “how did they put that on TV?” storylines.

The Beast Machines CGI cartoon was utter dreck, especially if you enjoyed the Beast Wars stuff.

And yes, the idea to do a live-action Transformers movie has been floating around Hasbro for the last few years. I know because I was contacted by a production studio to pitch a treatment for such a film. It’s available on my web site if you’re bored enough to go read it.

The movie does look horrible, but isn’t anyone else going to point out the one compelling reason to go see it, namely the fabulous, talented and gorgeous LINDA CARDELLINI???

(two words: freaks and geeks)

I’m gonna defend BeastWars as well, from the Starscream episode on. And i like some of the earlier Beast Machines, like the pilot when no one knew what the heck was going on and they were being chased by automatons to techno music. But that Anime Crap-fest they have on Fox blows. I hear the new one is supposed to be cool.

D.C. Fontana even wrote an episode, “Crossing the Rubicon.”

Okay, I have to go see this one (the five-year-old who lives here has been begging to see it since the previews have been airing for six freaking months…but that’s a Pit rant).

Just how bad is it? Should I take a book and my Itty-Bitty book light? Or will I find it mildy amusing?

“Possession,” definitely a must-see. But nothing beats “The Agenda” three-parter – talk about cliffhangers!

The pilot was cool, but it really went downhill from there. After three episodes you started to realize that the head writer was making it up as he went along.

That’s because the original Japanese series it was from (Transformers: Car Robots) also blew. Nice toys, though.

Further Beast Wars-sci-fi tie-in: series writer Bob Forward is the son of noted sci-fi author Robert “Camelot 40,000” Forward.
(Yeah, this message is one big hijack, but do you really want to talk about the Scooby-Doo movie further? )
