I once had a bottle of single malt scotch given to me by a friend. It was really good, but all I remember is that the box said the distillery only employed 3 people. Does anyone know the brand? I’ll be at JFK tomorrow (Wednesday) and I want to look in duty free. Thanks.
I think so - thanks!
Interesting sounding single malt. I’ve never seen it before but will keep an eye out…
That is not so strange, I understand, as whisky making is not a particularly labour-intensive industry. At either Laphroiag or Ardbeg, I don’t remember which, I was told that the actual production only involved a handful of people.
I too suspect Scapa - less than a dozen is not uncommon at all but three is a bit extreme. It will be because the distillery only has one wash still to operate. It is worth paying a bit more for the 16 year old if you find it in Duty Free.
Scapa appears to be much more popular amongst the Orcadians than the much more well known Highland Park - at least amongst the folk I’ve met and drunk with up there.
