California is definitely a “blue state”, although the Central Valley, where Modesto is, is generally as deeply Republican as Cobb County Georgia. California’s Democratic majority is by and large a result of the metropolitan Bay Area & the Los Angeles basin.

i was attempting to ascertain the political party of scott peterson. this was to prove a long held theory of mine that if scott is a republican, right wing radio will blow off the story.
however if he is a democrat, the ditto-heads of the world will be treated to every nook and cranny of the evil story, right down to how many links in his zipper.

In the Susan Smith case, Newt Gingrich made an ass out himself by giving a speech in which he vaguely blamed “liberal values” for the sort of permissive atmosphere that permitted Susan Smith to contemplate killing her own children over an affair- and the truth was her own (incestuous) stepfather was a local Republican bigshot. (And Gingrich’s own life was hardly family values material).
I think since then, pundits have been more careful about ascribing well publicised crimes to any particular political persuasion.
…by the way, the only thing that remotely fascinated me in this tragic mess what the fact that Peterson seemed to have quite a life for himself as a ‘manure salesman’. He hauled it in his own truck.
