the last thing I want to waste my life on is watching a bunch of egotistical narcissists tell each other how awesome they are. fuck the lot of 'em.
and you celebrity worshipers are a huge part of the problem.

OK, so don’t then.
Fortunately, you have something called a “remote control” which, get this, changes the channel! Imagine that! You have a choice in what you want to watch. Or just turn the damn thing off and read a book. It’s a free country.
I’m sure jz has much more meaningful, exciting ways to spend the evening. I don’t care* much* about the Oscars, but the show isn’t bad as a background. A few worthwhile bits might show up.
Is somebody being forced to watch the show because somebody else controls the remote at their house?
I didn’t say I was watching it, I don’t even have the TV on. I just wanted something to bitch about. I despise actors and “celebrities” so here we are.
Ohmigosh, jz, did you just see that? Man, Billy Crystal doesn’t care whose nose he tweaks! And that clip from Hugo… Whoa, Robert Downey-- HI-larious! Man, you gotta check this out…
Yet you post to a message board.
No, there you are.
You guys like something I don’t! Fuck the ever-fucking lot of you fuckers!
But the stuff I like? TOTALLY AWESOME!
What, all actors?
Even Mr. Ed?
To paraphrase Billy, Nothing helps America in tough times like watching a bunch of millionaires give each other gold statues.
I would like to thank The Academy. And all the little people who made this possible. Actors do something no one else can do-- bring dreams to life. We touch the souls of millions, no billions, of people every day. And so I would like to thank the crew, my mother, my step-brother, my half-sister, my brother-father, and my great aunt Bessy. She was a cow, but I love her just the same.
But I digress. Here we are tonight, celebrating the greatest artistic achievement of mankind. The creme de la creme of artistique endeavor. And I, representing the epitome of the craft, do humbly accept this award for Best Rolling Credits!
Wow, John, when I said I like the way you roll, I had no idea they were going to take it so seriously.
I hear ya. You never know whether it’s really them, or someone else.
I heartily concur. The day will come when the Oscar show will be cheapened down to the point where:
-the “red carpet” will be a red plastic tarp
-the “lavish pre-Oscar dinners/receptions” will be a cup of coffee (in a plastic cup), and a couple of stale doughnuts
-the Oscars will be gold-plated plastic-somebody will drop one, and it will shatter
-the rental company will come in early and start breaking down the set early
THAT would be worth watching!
Yeah, but when they fuck with my Family Guy and Simpsons line up; NOW I’ve got something to bitch about. (All the networks are showing repeats tonight because of the damn Grammys.)
I boycotted the Oscars for many years after 1978 when Star Wars was robbed of best picture. Then the “Prequels” took away Star Wars’ luster for me, and I finally ended my boycott. Now I don’t watch because of lack of interest.
Your ideas intrigue me and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter.
Yeah–and I didn’t get to watch Once Upon a Time! sulk
