Fuck! Fuck!
Now that I have your attention…
OK. Late July signed up for Cingular family plan. Got two phones, $39/mo + $20 for second line. OK for 2 weeks.
Then, can’t call 1 phone to another - either way. LONG calls to tech support…one call 2.5 hours, mainly on hold, listening to their goddamn commercials. This went on for a week, problem never fixed. So I cancel account, both lines. Was told I would only be charged for actual airtime used. Got a bill $103.84 - WTF? Called them, told actual bill was now $274, past due and ONE LINE WAS STILL ACTIVE! I had send the phones back weeks ago!
Finally they said they’d settle for $94.00. NO FUCKING WAY! Told them, OK, I’ll send $5 a month. They said collection agency. What the fuck to do?
Bend over and take it like a man.
Or, pull out your contract, do some reading, and find out WHY or HOW they could have charged you that much. If it’s your fault, eat it. If it’s theirs, talk to a supervisor. If that doesn’t work, contact whatever regulatory agency in your state regulates cellphones(or is it just the FCC?)
Sam
Call back and talk to someone else. Try to be as reasonable and kind to the person as possible.
You never know.
Cingular screwed me up pretty bad once when I consolidated bills. I was fully paid. But they cancelled the one account which showed me paid, issued me a check for that amount (which I got six weeks later), and then immediately marked the other account in arrears for the exact amount of the check they’d just sent, cut off my service, and sent me a nastygram. I could NOT make them see that the only reason I was behind in payments was their accounting decision. There was no need to cut off my service–they had had my money. I was not late.
I got NOWHERE with the person I spoke with. All she offered was to give me some more free minutes, which wasn’t any benefit to me at all since I never use my full allotment. So I sent a letter to customer service, with photocopies of EVERYTHING. I heard JACK SHIT.
But six months later I was on the phone with a rep about something else, and mentioned it to her, and she gave me a months free service (a month off my bill). It was the combination of talking to a different person, and talking to someone when I wasn’t as peeved.
I’ve talked to probably 10 different people there, I was pleasant each time, but never got the same response twice in a row.
Sort of like you’re doing with your noisy neighbor? How come when you’re inconvenienced, it’s tragic, but when someone else is getting boned, it’s “suck it up, already”?
He doesn’t have to bend over Gawd. He’s already assumed that position with “Roll-over Minutes”.
Seriously, they had you when you returned the phones. If you made the techs a ‘fix it or replace it by Fed-X’ demand, you’d still be in contract and they’d have to (somehow) make it work. They’re screwing you now because they know your leaving as a customer.
It’s all Robby Gordon’s fault. . .
Yeah, I took it in the butt from Cingular too.
Got phone for wife.
Wife loses phone.
Wife does not tell me for two months.
I find out, call and have number disconnected. No one has used the phone, so everything seems okay.
Find out that I cannot cancel plan with $200 fee. Only have 5 more payments till year is up, so I continue to pay.
Get bill for $300 at end of term, due to fine print in contract.
Walk bow legged for a while, and still get pissed when I think about it.
Pissed now. Thank you.
Lesson learned, read contract or carry lube. Also, don’t go with Cingular.
Got a new provider now. Lower price, fewer minutes. Works OK cause I only use a cell phone on rural two lane roads, late at night after a few stiff belts.
What? A new thread? Well, OK…
Try making a complaint to the Better Business Bureau if you think they’re being unethical or dishonest - www.bbb.org This has always worked great for me, especially with large companies who are somewhat concerned about their reputation.
