Script idea

Hi , so I am writing and directing our next play at school and the theme that I was given is " The big issue ". I’ve been trying to think of ideas that are not depressing. I need a script that is comical but also makes people think. It also can’t be too serious and it can’t be anything stereotypical.

So… I need help ! Please please !
Any ideas will be appreciated

Thank you !

Are you asking for just a general idea, or are you asking for a script? Have you written a script before?

Title: The Big Issue
Subject matter: Prince George’s 1st Birthday Party!
Scene: Buckingham Palace and environs

What grade(s) would be putting on this play?

‘Issue’ can be a (disparaging?) term for a person’s child, as in ‘Your misbegotten issue has bothered my dog for the last time!’

The Big Issue could be a child of unusual size. Comedy ensues.

Can you do a historical play? Write a script about 1776 and the big issue can be deciding whether or not to declare independence. The characters can be famous historical people.

The Big Issue is obviously an oversized newspaper.

That’s very Bringing Up Baby.

This isn’t really a factual question. I’ve asked the mods to move it to a more appropriate forum for you.

It’s ok to bounce your ideas off of people here, but don’t expect everyone here to do your work for you. Show that you have put some effort into this assignment and explain where exactly you are getting stuck, and expect people to give you hints about how to get unstuck and not just give you the answer.

hi , just a general idea!

What grade level are you talking about?

Well, the biggest non-depressing issue I see for the human race is:

Are we alone?

Are we the only intelligent life in the universe, or are there countless intelligent species out there?

With a little effort, you can probably add some humor to the issue (e.g. bumbling aliens; Bubba and Lester encountering and inadvertently destroying proof of intelligent life in the universe, etc.).

That the world at large will magically provide for those with a sense of entitlement, a lack of understanding of the basics required, and the inability to fully involve oneself, might be a winner there for you, JessicaKim.

No. Call it “The Big Issue” but the writer in the play never tells what its about.
The drama teacher thinks its that student they had the affair with.
The principal & half the staff think its the money-for-grades thing that they have been running for years.
The femme fatale thinks its about how everyone sees her as “old” and “irrelevant” now… and pathetic since she’s trying to dance to the 8th graders music.
The father thinks its about how he’s been hiding that he lost his job.
The mother thinks its about the FedEx guy she’s been banging.
The custodian think its about him being gay.
The superintendant thinks its because he he is a “political appointee”.
Another parent thinks its about an outstanding arrest warrant from another state.

Hilarity Ensues.
