I don’t necessarily mean that in reference to your OP rant (a fine piece of work nonetheless) but rather to your other posts in the inspiration for this thread.
Although I definitely agree with much of what you were saying, you have to admit, something good has to be said for good leadership in general. After all, how far would Le Resistance get without it? 
And Scylla, forgive me for interjecting, but I don’t think Elucidator was trying to joke around with you, as much as he was trying to insult you further.

Actually, having just read the thread in question, Elucidator is an idiot, but that’s OK, idiots have a right to their opinons as well. He could have saved the bleeding heart " We fought against the war in Vietnam because it was unjust " crap, though. Protests in America dropped to near zero when the draft was ended, it was all self serving bullshit. Nothing wrong with that, but just admit it, you didn’t want to fight and die for non defined goals. Given that apparently elucidator’s sole purpose is to follow Stoid around, trying to surgically attach his nose to her backside, this is quite the hoot. Stoid and Scylla are originals: they seem like well rounded people having a variety of opinions, beliefs, etc.
Given eluciator’s creepy act of trailing Stoid around and doing the “Yup! Uh-huh! You are soooo right, Stoid! Boy, everyone should agree with you!”, if I didn’t believe that A) Stoid would never stoop to such a thing, and B) even if (big if) she did, she’d be more subtle and do it better than eluciadator does, I’d consider him a sock-puppet. As it is, his gimmick is somewhere bettween sad and stalker-ish creepy.
The only other assumption is that elucidator’s someone trying to undermine Stoid’s points by the sock-puppet act (didn’t work. Like I said: Stoid wouldn’t ). But I don’t give him that much credit. It’d be interesting to see if he thinks he’s actually helping her arguments with his toadying.

I’m not about to suggest that our ranks were filled entirely by the righteous and the just. We had our share of assholes, Lord knows. As is often the case, it is the radicals who get the attention they crave, the kind of dolts who insisted on spelling “America” with a “k”. It is a lot harder to hurl epithets like “coward” and “traitor” at a man who’s sleeve is pinned to his shoulder. When they gathered to hurl thier combat medals on the Capitol steps, America gasped. One hundred of them in one hour did more than one hundred thousand of us could accomplish in years. No one has ever served thier country better than they, may the good Lord bless them and keep them.
