SDMB Auction fantasy football league

Here’s a scoring chart. The sort order is the number of points scored. The number to the left is the actual yahoo rank based on record/score. Relative rank is where your yahoo rank is relative to the amount of points you scored. * means same position, negative numbers mean your yahoo rank is higher than your score, positive numbers mean your yahoo rank is lower than your score.

3. Exploding Pancakes 6-4 1133.10 +2
1. Good Rex Bad Rex 8-2 1070.92 -1
5. Last Place 5-5 1054.58 +2
2. Cobra Kai 7-3 937.98 -2
4. WhereAreTheWhores? 6-4 872.80 -1
6. New York Fanboys 4-6 809.04 *
7. Varlos' Zzzzzzz 3-7 818.30 *
8. Overly Sentimental 1-9 794.22 *

I accidentally reversed what numbers mean positive and negative between this thread and the other one. The description for each chart is correct, it’s just that in this league, +2 means your scoring rank is 2 slots higher than your yahoo rank, where in the other thread/chart +2 would mean your yahoo rank is 2 slots higher than your scoring rank.

Woo hoo! Go overachieving!Or… .taking advantage of matchups, anyways.

Lee Evans and Randy Moss need to combine for more than 29.22 for Cobra Kai’s leg to be swept.

Varlos needs 36.72 from Stallworth, Maroney, and Gostkowski to beat New York Fanboys.

Quite a dramatic matchup this week. #1 seed Omni vs #2 seed me. If I win, I’ll have the #1 seed on account of having more points, so it’s the battle for the top spot. Right now the projected score is 114.95 vs 114.97. Wow. Doesn’t get better than that.

Remember all the Thursday games this week. If you have players involved in them, set your rosters now.

Go Omni! Win, and let me back into spot #2!

Stuff to watch tonight:

SenorBeef and 83.72 with Moss and Pittsburgh D against Omni with 92.12, Westbrook, Heath Miller. Let’s go Moss.

Kiros and 88.7 with Brady vs Chuck with 87.9 and Willie Parker and the New England D.

Other two games are decided - Cobra Kai and Varlos win.

Even my non-Doper roommate gets name recognition, but I only get referred to by my team name? I think I’m insulted.

Sorry, I wasn’t really putting any thought into what I called people, I was just quickly jotting down whatever came to mind.

I’ll consider your loss (putting me into second place) a fine way of making up for it.

You’re lucky we don’t play again good sir.

It’s kinda sick, by the way, that I’ll be 4th place with the highest score in the league and it’s possible I won’t make the playoffs.

I got screwed out of 7 points tonight on that Moss phantom PI call. Not likely it would’ve made the difference, but with Pittsburgh’s D against Miami it would’ve been possible.

Come on, SB. We both make the playoffs this year… and this time, there won’t be William Green involved.

Who’s gonna score our weed, then?
That phantom Moss PI call is making a pretty big difference. I’m currently down by 5.3 points… so I’d be ahead with it.

Chuck is exactly 1 point behind Kiros. Willie Parker needs 10 more.

Gah, I lost by 1.3 points.

Pittsburgh also had a defensive TD at the end of the game there, but the whistle was blown just to mercifully end the game. Still, that’s two bad calls that cost me way more than the 1.3 points I needed.

Crazy RB depth leads to hard decisions.

Do I play the stud RB who’s gimpy and might be returning too early due to a desperate coach? (Peterson)

How about the guy who has put up 93/1 and 137/1 in the last 2 weeks and will be in a shootout this weekend? (Lewis)

Or there’s MJD, who’s always had big days against the colts.

Or Reggie Bush, against a defense that gives up good points to runners.

Or Jesse Chatman, who’s banged up but is playing a terrible rush defense.

Or Kolby Smith, who put up 150 yards last week but is unproven.

Or Ryan Grant, who I sat and then he put up 20 points for the second week in a row… not an option anymore…

Tough call this week.

Not only that, but I need to cut someone good. Not enough roster spaces, I have no kicker ATM.

Diomedes needs 3.96 points out of Hines ward.

The other games still have plenty of players to play, and only Omni/Ellis Dee are decided.

It’s last the last week of the regular season. Three players have a playoff spot clinched: Myself, Diomedes, and Omni.

Omni is the #1 seed regardless because Diomedes can match his win total, but not point total. I could exceed his point total, but not his win total.

Diomedes and I, however, could swap #2 and #3… but it doesn’t really matter. In this format there are no byes, and there’s no home field advantage to be won, and Dio and I will probably be playing either way.

The last spot is up for grabs by either Kiros or LOUNE. Loune has 1 more win, but Kiros has substantially more points, so in the event that Kiros wins and LOUNE loses, Kiros is the 4th seed.

Which is looking like a decent possibility at this point. LOUNE has the toughest matchup vs Omni, and Kiros faces the New York Fanboys. And the New York Fanboys practically only have 1 team to work with, because we know the Jets have to face the stifling Cleveland Browns defense and… okay, so NYF has a good shot.

I must say the results of this season surprised me somewhat. I’ve been the leading scorer throughout more than half the year IIRC and I wasn’t that high on my team to start with. But my drafting philosophy ended up working out, as I snagged up some of the league’s best players (Peterson, Moss, and Edwards all together were like $25, IIRC) on the cheap.

IIRC, Ellis Dee was convinced that LOUNE’s strategy would have him in contention for winning the league, but I had my doubts. With Manning having a good but not great year, and Alexander crapping the bed, and Tomlinson being very very good, but not 2005 dominant, it didn’t work out for him. He did a good job of scrapping a decent team together given what he had to work with, but getting those 3 players didn’t allow him to dominate the league.

IIRC, Chuck was my prediction to be the best team this year. I’m guessing both he and I are pretty surprised how that went.

Ellis Dee did better than I thought he would with his gimmick team possibly beating out two legitimate teams.

LOUNE’s strategy would have worked perfectly if he’d picked the right guys: Tom Brady and Adrian Peterson instead of Peyton Manning and Ladainian Tomlinson. Of course, picking the right guys is the real trick.

As for the 'Fanboys, for years the Jets have really been a thorn in my side. Eli always fades statistically, so I’m not blaming him for my team’s poor performance, but I will say that Plax’s gimpy leg and the revolving door at running back for the Giants certainly didn’t help.

PS: No thoughts about the Chris Baker force-out? I posted video to it [post=9238098]here[/post].

As of right now (5 minutes into the Colts game)

Chuck needs 5 points out of Vinatieri and Colston

LOUNE with Manning has a 2 point lead on Omni who has Wayne (tough deal)

Kiros and Diomedes won.

Yes, but you fail to mention that if Joseph Addai would only pick up the pace just a little, he might net me the 180-odd points necessary to overtake Omni for the overall season title.
