SDMB Auction fantasy football league

I’ve had some high scoring games lately. 153 this week. Believe it or not, even though Lynch put up 26.32 points, I’d be over 160 if I’d have started my best player in the slot - Jamal Lewis on my bench with 34.40 points. Bush there too with 23.50. Yay for RB depth.

Chuck would’ve won if he’d adjusted his roster properly. Even with Romo and Crayton yet to play, Portis and White would’ve put him high enough.

Rex is down 51.29 points with Westbrook and Barber still to play.

I won’t be able to watch this game until tomorrow morning when I get off of work. While I watch it, I’ll definitely be rooting for long bombs and punts, I suppose.

I’ll take a win however I can get it when the Giants have a bye and all I gots are Jets.

Yahoo’s predicted score for my all-Jets team – 62.17 – was eerily close to the actual posted score of 62.64.

In random news, my projected score for the first playoff game with my current lineup is 123.49. Anderson/Edwards/Winslow play Buf, Lee Evans/Lynch play Cleveland… and that should be a high scoring game… Peterson plays Chi, who he ripped up for 200+ earlier, and Moss faces the Jets, who the Pats are going to put in a special effort to destroy. Currently, the lucky opponent would be Cobra Kai in the #3 seed, but things can change.

The championship game sees Anderson/Edwards/Winslow/Lewis vs Cin, who they put 51 points against earlier. Mmmm.
That whole not trading Peterson thing is working out so far, although Addai didn’t exactly have a bad game himself. I predicted myself early on to be one of the worse teams, but I’m quite confident now. I was shakey on RB, but as of now I’m pretty confident with at least 3 good ones (including the #1 scorer).

Chuck could pull it off tonight with a 22.74 game out of Parker, but I don’t expect it with the Ravens having corners out. Omni could win with a 14.18 game out of Miller.

It’s a monsoon, so I’m thinking each team will put up single digit pass attempts.

Sorry for being late on handling the waiver stuff. Totally my bad.

Two situations came up this week. Ellis Dee wanted to keep the Giants receiver/kicker he dropped this week, so he claimed them. But our system doesn’t put bye week players on waivers, so he didn’t need to. Given that, and that no one else claimed them, I was thinking we could let it slide and not bump him back on waivers.

Also, I think Diomedes accidentally jumped free agency to sign Jason Hanson (k) by accident. He said he’d just consider it a claim to avoid being punished for a free agency jump, but I doubt there was any intent on his part to jump anyone. Barring someone else’s interest in that player, I’m inclined to let it slide. But I’d like feedback.

I claimed Drew Brees and forgot about it in my hurry to resolve issues. I signed him as a free agent, but I’ll properly put myself at the back of the waiver priority.

Oh, one more issue. We’re playing with can’t cut lists in this league, but we don’t really need them - I doubt anyone is going to do some sort of end-of-season roster dump. Barring objections, I’ll turn that off. Turns out I can’t cut McNabb for Brees… in the meantime I freed up space for him by dropping my kicker.
Sorry for my disorganization this week.

If I can make a legitimate claim on Toomer & Tynes, I would very much like to. in other words, I would eagerly spend my waiver priority in order to guarantee rights to them. (Who else am I going to use it on…the Pillsbury Throw Boy?)

As for Diomedes, I have no problem letting him keep both Hanson and his waiver priority.

My draft strategy, in retrospect, is predicated on picking the correct superstuds and making all the waiver claim moves. So far, it’s not working out. Thanks Shawn Alexander.

Imagine what you could have done picking up Derek Anderson, Adrian Peterson and Marion Barber and kept the remaining 190 points for waiverpriority.

It’s a risky strategy also because one of your guys could’ve been injured.

However, like I said before, you would’ve suffered far more in a deeper league - in roster size and/or number of players. As it was, in an 8 player league, after the draft there are still some pretty decent free agents to go around. If you’d pulled the same deal in a 12 team league, your starters would be pretty sad.

In retrospect, I liked my strategy. Mostly I bought up a lot of guys with potential (but not recent production) cheaply, and then just plugged in whichever ones of those were reaching their potential.

Since there was no objection (and among a group of serious players, there’s no real need for it) I disabled the can’t cut list.

Not necessarily. The roster moves would have been paramount. A shallower league means more people are around…especially considering that people tend to hold onto their intestments.

Rosters that need adjustment:

Varlos
Kiros

Shhhhhhh!

I’ve had a nasty case of food poisoning and it’s been difficult for me to be at the computer (doing anything but laying flat is making me feel like I’m going to puke) but I’ll try to do the waiver claims normally tomorrow. It would help if you guys sent your claims in by tomorrow afternoon… I may have the post the results early if I’m exhausted and have to sleep between 11 and 12… sleep is irratic and infrequent enough that I wouldn’t want to interrupt it to do the claims.

I’ll try to do things normally though.

Just because Chuck (Overly Sentimental) can’t post here, I’ll own up to this:

If you spend the offseason saying that the 49ers will be the team to beat in the NFC, do not watch MNF games with the person to whom you said that. It ain’t pretty.

Anyone want McNabb or Drew Brees? Send an offer. I won’t ask for much.

The Eagles and the Saints are saying the same thing.

Reminder: Trade deadline ends Friday. I don’t know if that means midnight Friday morning or what, but I’d advise you to take a quick glances at rosters and make any offers you want to get done quickly. Also, check the league regularly over the next two days to see if anyone else has made an offer to you.

I have an abundance of RBs and quarterbacks and I’d be willing to trade some before the deadline.

Thing is… I’m not very lacking. My roster seems pretty awesome from top to bottom. Still, I’d entertaing the idea of a stud RB in exchange for one of my good RBs, QBs, and/or Steve Smith/Lee Evans (although you’d probably have to throw in a decent WR in exchange)… something like that. Something like Marshawn Lynch + Donovan McNabb + Steve Smith for [some RB1] + [some WR3] would work for me… or whatever fits you best.

Up for grabs are Bush, MJD, Lynch, Lewis, Chatman, Grant, McNabb, Brees, Lee Evans, Steve Smith. I could deal Peterson too but it’d require more thought. I’d deal Moss/Anderson/Edwards/etc but the deal would have to be pretty sweet. Hit me up soon if you’re interested, we’re almost at the deadline.
