SDMB Auction fantasy football league

Rosters that could use adjustment:

Varlos
Myself.

I’m having a hard time finding someone to drop to pick up a replacement for my defense. Probably going to wait for gametime inactives to figure out who I can drop.

**Omniscient: ** way to make mincemeat of the rest of the league after complaining that people underrated you at the start of the season. I take my crow fried, please.

Looking over the auction results.

Nice ROI analysis, Beef. That must have taken forever.

Not too much, I just read the list in this post and copied and pasted into the appropriate list. I like analyzing such things for myself anyway, so I figure I might as well share it with everyone.

Also, not sure why I didn’t bold Romo, since he was obviously an emphatic steal.

I was flip flopping my RB2 spot all week. When I saw that Rudi Johnson was active, I went away from Watson. I was going to start MJD, but I saw Fred Taylor was starting. So I went with Peterson. Woo. Of course at 125/2 going with MJD wouldn’t have been a horrible mistake.

So I have Peterson at something like 225/3, Edwards at 67/3, and Moss and Steve Smith still to play. Feeling pretty good.

Silly fantasy football. 5 teams makes me lose my nerve early. Especially when two of those leagues are packed for people. For example, my second quarterback spot was filled with Kyle Boller because Cleo Lemon and Trent Edwards were taken and Vinny Testaverde is on waivers until the 17th.

Whee. That’s what happens when you’re in a league in which you have to start two quarterbacks.

I can’t imagine playing a football game an calling it a ‘fantasy’ when you’re tossing back and forth the options on Kyle Boller or Vinny Greenballs.

I know. Punch-e-size my face if I ever do 6 leagues again, please.

So Kiros put up 143.82, which is the third highest score ever in our league, out of 48 possible scores. Unfortunately for him, he ended up getting matched up against the first of 48 this week. Tough loss.

If I’d have played MJD like I originally planned instead of ADP, while he still had a very nice day, I’d have lost by a little over a point. That’s the sort of loss I’ve started to expect. So… yay.

Lots of high scoring in FF in general this week.

Funny thing, though - I snatched up pretty much every Browns player because I’m a homer, they’re cheap, and I knew the offense would be improved (although I didn’t expect top 5 PPG), but I didn’t snatch up Anderson, who’s now the #3 QB in FF. Reasons being that I thought McNabb/Kitna would be a fine combo, I didn’t expect him to perform this well, and I figured he’d be replaced by Quinn sometime around 2 weeks from now. He’s more than 20 points ahead of Palmer and Manning. Wow.

Other random thoughts: Despite Peterson running over the Bears at will, IIRC they still gave Chester Taylor more carries than him. I have the feeling that Peterson will be held back as a fantasy back because Minnesota will ignore that he’s pretty much their entire offense and limit his carries.

Despite a mediocre start, Tomlinson is the #1 scoring back.

Jones-Drew strung together 2 nice weeks, perhaps there’s still life in him.

Steve Smith can still put up big games even with a geriatric throwing him the ball.

Braylon Edwards is a flat out stud. I called it - earlier in one of these threads. I snatched him up in this league for $2 or $3, and as a 7th round pick in the other. His extrapolated numbers this year - 1472 yards and 18 touchdowns. Realistically probably something like 1400 yards and 14 TDs if he stays healthy.

That gives me 3 of the 4 top WRs in this league, although Burress hasn’t played yet so it’ll probably be 3 of the top 5. In the other league I have Braylon/Housh giving me 2 of the top 3 or 4.

Winslow’s only 41 yards behind Gates, but only has 2 TDs. Poor guy always gets tackled at like the 4 yard line, then they never throw it to him in the red zone. That confuses me - he’s the man in that situation.

I’m willing to trade some combination of one of my WRs and an RB for a good RB.

WRs:
Steve Smith
Anquan Boldin
Calvin Johnson

(I’d think about trading Edwards or Moss but it’d have to be a good offer)

RBs:

Bush
Peterson
MJD
Lewis
Lynch

What I’d ask in return depends on the combo. Obviously I’d want more for Adrian Peterson/Steve Smith than MJD/Calvin Johnson.

Throw me an offer, send me an e-mail/PM, whatever.

I’m looking for a reliable RB to start every week.

Man did I catch Ellis Dee on the wrong week. Almost his entire team is going to be beating up on Miami… and what few aren’t are beating up on Buffalo. Ugh.

Sent you a possible trade, SB. Feel free to mix it around, or take LJ instead of Addai.

Dio, I’ll get back to you soon on that. It’s a toughie, even with Peterson looking mediocre and Addai looking great, we both know Peterson is capable of crazy stuff.

LOUNE, I want to peel Anderson away from you. You’re best off selling Anderson high right now - he’s not going to be able to post great numbers like this forever, he’s been playing Miami and St. Louis. And you’re going to bench him most weeks behind Peyton.

The types of trades I’m willing to discuss:

Kitna and Jones-Drew/Chatman/Lewis/Lynch (pick one) for Anderson

Kitna is a solid backup on the rare chance that Peyton has an injury, and one of the RBs gives you options in a shallow RB corps (Alexander is washed up and you could use the fresh blood)

Kitna and Anquan Boldin or Calvin Johnson. I’m stacked at receiver and either of those players would become your #2 WR.

I’m willing to move Bush, but it’d require a sweeter deal than that.

Get back to me.

I’m also willing to move McNabb and/or Steve Smith in the deal, but it’d require more on your end.

I don’t mind a Kitna. I know you have a boner for Anderson, too (because you’re a Browns fan).

Kitna and Boldin works. Fire the trade.

Done. Thanks.

Even though I just traded for Anderson, I’m considering benching him this week. He’s the 2nd highest projected QB on yahoo, but it’s a bad matchup. Seattle has allowed very few passing TDs, and Marcus Trufant is having a breakout year. Anderson-Edwards was looking pretty damn unstoppable, but this is the best CB he’s faced. And Brian Russell… who I didn’t think much of last year, but his loss made our promising secondary fall apart. It was clear he was the leader of the defense. And now he’s going to be helping to double Braylon.

McNabb, on the other hand, could be behind a shootout against Dallas. Hmm…

I see Edwards coming back to Earth a bit, but that bodes well for Winslow. Except that his knees are starting to act like they were last year. Last year he was in so much pain that he didn’t practice, he just played on game day. It pisses me off to think what a great career that guy ruined. He looks like a stud this year, and he’s not even fully healthy.

I think I’m going to bench Steve Smith for Lee Evans. Smith getting back with Carr (I think they can do okay later in the season, but not their first game together again, against Tennessee… they need to find a rhythm) and Lee Evans is in an ideal situation - Losman, who likes to just chuck Evans the ball downfield, will be making his return, against the Bengals defense… I think we might see a resurgence of the 2nd half of the season Evans.

Is this an inappropriate question to ask? If so, don’t answer it. Diomedes offered me a trade of Peterson and Addai - and a swap of receivers I found roughly equal so it wasn’t a big factor - and I couldn’t decide who I wanted. It was such a big, yet close and risky decision. Who are you higher on this year?

Rosters that need adjustment:

New York Fanboys (if you want to plug in at least the Jets’ third receiver)
Overly Sentimental (Sadly, if neither rosters are adjusted you’ll have an evenly matched, if pathetic, game)
Last Place
Good Rex Bad Rex

It looks like Overly Sentimental’s roster won’t get adjusted. Dude’s got called into work this morning. First one to thirty points wins that one!
