Yeah, that works for me. But you wouldn’t rather have the runner up in each bracket get the next highest pick?
Anyway, we’ll let everyone weigh in over the next couple of weeks before we have to make a decision on this.

Well that’s an option too. If you’re going to sort two of the spots by consolation finish, then you could even seed the whole thing by making an artificial secondary consolation game for the losers of the entry games into the main one
Then the whole league would be sorted by wins, but confined to their appropriate brackets.
But… the main point in seeding the draft the way we do is so that the worst teams get the best picks. Having a team earn the highest pick in their bracket will keep the playoffs interesting, but seeding the top two teams as the first two picks rather than just having one winner makes it so that the two worst teams could be stuck with the worst picks in their bracket, rather than just the worst team getting stuck with the #2 pick. I think giving the consolation winner the top pick is enough to keep the games interesting without also giving away the 2nd pick too.
But… not a huge deal either way.
Yeah, maybe you’re right.
I’d be willing to give up Favre or Kyle Orton for a good RB or WR.
And if anyone’s looking to upgrade at QB next year, I’ve got Michael Vick and I’d be willing to trade him too. Word is he’ll be a starter wherever he goes next year.
I like it.
Me too. I think because it is a dynasty league, the first few picks of the draft are the most important, so we should keep it with the bottom teams getting the best picks.
And, as an aside, if Tom Brady scores more than 32.55 points tonight, I am seriously coming to every single one of you bastards’ house and smashing your computers to bits with my bare hands. I am not losing while scoring big again.
I think we should utilize whichever system results in me having the first pick.
Well let’s see, tank your next two games and then pull all your starters for the playoffs.
Oh, and just to be sure you resist temptation, trade Kevin Smith to me for the surefire combo of Torry Holt and Willis McGahee.
I probably can’t afford Favre’s production considering his age unless you are interested in Maroney or Charles.
You sir have an offer.
Accepted. If they sit Favre in the fantasy playoffs I will cry like a baby.
This last week is going to be interesting.
9 Inch Neils and We Do HGH have locked up playoff spots while four teams will be in the hunt for the last two spots. There’s a bunch of scenarios…
Yup, should be interesting.
I done told you already, boy, you’re all playing for second place.
Did I break a rule by adding a player after the Thursday game?
No, you just can’t pick up a player who played in the Thursday night game until he has been on waivers.
If there aren’t any strong objections, I’m going to go ahead with this (5th and 6th picks will be the consolation bracket winners this week, 7th will be the loser with the worse W-L/points scored of the two other teams). I’m sorry we didn’t have a more formal discussion, but all those who chimed in said they liked the idea. (I had an electrical outage in my apartment Thursday-Friday, then a funeral yesterday; this is pretty much the first chance I’ve had to get online in a few days.)
Now, since two games have already been played this week, and since my team is itself part of the consolation bracket (thus suggesting the possibility of impartiality), any substantial objection will pretty much have to carry the day. Hopefully it’s not an issue, but if it is I promise no hard feelings.
As for the manually tabulated “loser’s bracket” for the bottom four teams, it’s not practical without an explicitly stated & approved policy (we don’t know if these guys even updated their rosters this week, for example). This issue will go on the ballot for next year. For now, though, **SenorBeef **is on the clock.
First four picks:
If we’re going to play for draft picks (which, I’d like to reiterate, I love), wouldn’t the 7th pick go to the winner of the 7th place game?
Ah, I thought the manual consolation bracket for #1 and the automatic consolation for pick #5 was policy. I mean, it’s better for me to just shut up and take the pick, but I’m fine with that system, since I proposed it.
I guess there is a 7th place game, right? Forgot about that. Ok, then we’ll do that.
No objections. I MUCH prefer teams having to play for draft picks, giving the consolation bracket some additional incentive not to tank.
Apologies if this is stated in the thread, but did we ever decide on a format for the rookie draft? Is it serpentine or 1-12, 1-12, etc? I have to admit, I am far more excited about the NFL draft this year, when I can find out who all the college guys I’m targeting for next year will land.
And then following the rookies in minicamp and training camp! Man, this is gonna be awesome.
