SDMB Fantasy Football Auction League

Sure. But if not, I’m OK with that. The other party involved may be in more of a rush.

I think we both benefit from it going through for tomorrow’s games.

Interesting trade. IMHO, it works out to Jennings for Smith, which I don’t think I’d do.

The One Man League and New York Fanboys have roster spots that need to be tended to.

This is a list of people who have empty slots still. This may be for good reason, like you don’t have a replacement for that player. I’m just putting this out as a reminder in case someone forgot to set their rosters.

My 6 game win streak may be coming to an end tonight.

I’ve got a 11.88 point edge with Pierre Thomas and Roddy White still to play, but Show Me Your TDs has Drew Brees and Henderson. So it’ll come down to how many of NO’s touchdowns are scored by Brees and how many are scored by Thomas.

2 other matches will be resolved on MNF:

Varlos needs Colston, Turner, and the Saints D to outscore Tony Gonzalez and and 13.42 point deficit.

Cobra Kai needs Elam to put up 6.2 points.

Through 2 Weeks (W7-W8), the trade looks like this:

Michael Turner: 201 yards, 2 TDs – 32.1 points.
Randy Moss: 69 yards, 0 TDs – 6.9 points (one game).
(Marques Colston: 157 yards, 2 TDs – 27.7 points.)
Now, the fact that Moss, unlike Turner and Colston, had a bye week coming up was part of my motivation for doing the trade, as well as for choosing to trade him instead of Colston. However, it’s not exactly fair to give Moss a 0 for the missed week in the comparison, since his slot was never going to be left empty. Instead, he should get credit in this analysis for the production of the bench player who took his spot in Week 8. In Cobra Kai’s case, that was Brandon Stokley, who put up . . . 0 points. If I’d traded Colston and had to replace Moss this past week, I would’ve started Torry Holt, who put up 1.7 points. So, what the hell, we’ll give Moss credit for the 17 yards that Holt put up, making the adjusted totals through Week 8:
Michael Turner: 201 yards, 2 TDs – 32.1 points.
Randy Moss: 86 yards, 0 TDs – 8.6 points.
(Marques Colston: 157 yards, 2 TDs – 27.7 points.)

Trade to announce

Overly Sentimental gives up the Pittsburgh defense and Exploding Pancakes gives up Steve Breaston.

Just what we didn’t need - your team getting stronger.

My WRs are an all you can eat buffet. I’m like 6 deep with startable WRs, had to get something for them.

My team is weakened by the Ronnie Brown news, though. It’s going to hurt me come playoff time.

You are looking pretty threadbare at running back.

I’d be willing to consider a trade for RB. If anyone wants Welker, Roddy White, Welker, Mason, or Maclin, I’d consider a trade for a comparably valued RB.

My 9 game winning streak comes to an end. And not peacefully - it got demolished by Overly Sentimental’s 156 points.

I got home and found that I had an e-mail sent from Overly Sentimental that arrived at 1:02 eastern saying

I’ve never run across this situations before. I’ve had people e-mail me a few minutes before the game saying that they were on a mobile device and couldn’t set their roster (but could send me an e-mail) and honored that request. In this case I assume he just got to the computer a little late and just found out Williams was out and missed the deadline to switch by a minute. I don’t know if I should grant his request - on one hand he’s not trying to do any sort of gaming the system for an advantage here, he just missed the deadline for whatever reason - but on the other hand I can imagine people having a problem with it, so I wanted to ask the league if it was cool.

checks to see who I’m playing

Doesn’t bother me.

Wow - the playoffs are still wide open. Exploding Pancakes have already locked up a playoff spot, but The One Man League are in a very tenuous second place. If they lose and New York Fanboys win (and score 7 more points), both NYFB and the winner of my game with Show Me Your TDs will leapfrog him. I, on the other hand, am virtually guaranteed a playoff spot with a New York Fanboys loss, or with a win today (as is Show Me Your TDs). Overly Sentimental and Quentin’s Jammers can both theoretically steal the fourth playoff spot with huge wins (ie., outscoring everyone else by 50+ points) and a NYFB loss.

Well, I (One Man League) did get leapfrogged, but only by 2 teams, so I fell from 2nd to 4th place. But we’re in the playoffs, baby! Yeah!

Now, off to find a replacement RB for Kevin Smith…

And so ends the regular season. Our final regular season standings are:

  1. Exploding Pancakes (SenorBeef)
  2. Orlando Rage (RNATB)
  3. New York Fanboys (Ellis Dee)
  4. The One Man League (It’s Not Rocket Surgery!)

  6. Quentin’s Jammers (Jules Andre)
  7. Varlos’ Zzzzzz (VarlosZ)
  8. Overly Sentimental (Chuck**)
  9. Last Place (Kiros)
  10. The Jackson 4 (Hamlet)
  11. Chicago Cutlery (Omniscient)
  12. Cobra Kai (Boozahol Squid, PI)
  • If you don’t remember, he’s not an SDMBer - he was the guy who filled our 12th slot during the draft/mock draft screwup in year 2 and since he was competant and took it seriously he was invited to stay n our league.
** Also not an SDMBer, but Boozahol Squid’s roomate when we had an extra spot open in year 1
The order of standings if we were playing a points league and it was ranked by total score:
    *2. Orlando Rage (RNATB) 9-5 1410.50
    *1. Exploding Pancakes 10-4 1394.76
  1. Show Me Your TD’s 8-6 1389.80
    *3. New York Fanboys 9-5 1355.42
    *4. The One Man League 9-5 1338.14

  5. The Jackson 4 (Hmlet) 5-9 1240.26
  6. Last Place 7-7 1217.56
  7. Cobra Kai 2-12 1060.52
  8. Chicago Cutlery 3-11 1049.96

Nothing egregiously unfair between the scoring ranks and actual ranks in this league this year, unlike certain other leagues I was in this year (cough top 2 scorers couldn’t make 8-man playoffs cough). Show me your TDs got a little hosed, but by a pretty small margin.

After winning the first 9, I lost 3 out of my last 4 … but I’m not too worried, people just put up good scores against me. My team has been remarkably consistent - in 9 games I scored in the 95-111 range, and in the others not too far outside of that. I haven’t had any really bad games nor any of the highest scores of the year. I guess whoever plays me in the playoffs will win if they put up 115.

Er, correction, I didn’t win my first 9. I went on a 9 game winning streak after losing the first game by less than a point.

I thought I had snuck into the playoffs until I realized that, for some reason, this was a 12 team league with only 4 playoff spots. I guess I was thinking of the All Pro league. Pretty shitty realization to have! :frowning: I had a pretty good forecast for this coming week, too.

Well, good luck playoff teams!
