Last week I left 2 40 point players (Britt, McFadden) on the bench in my 2 SDMB leagues, but I won my games easily. This week I played them. Britt got 0 points. McFadden got 14.5 and I got beat badly in both games. You never know in fantasy football.
After my first pick Montario Hardesty got hurt in preseason, I thought I’d forget about this league. I didn’t know how much to spend on FAB so I overpaid for Peyton Hillis and Brandon Lloyd ($30) after week 1. But they’d been solid starters the whole year, so they’ve worked out.
Yeah, that is weird. Definitely overpaid for them at the time, but definitely got huge bargains on both with hindsight. (Of course, it’s not that big a deal to be low on FAAB money in this league.)
I have a small chance of holding out against Stringer this week. He needs 29 points plus the output of Jacob Temme with Wayne, Foster, Garcon, and Vinatieri… probably a good 85% chance to win there. TDs going to Temme is my only shot.
Isotopes needs 48 out of Manning…
RNATB needs 39 points out of Manning and Blair White to beat Varlos. Long shot but possible.
There have been fewer huge Waiver pickups this season than most it seems. There have been a handful of guys that panned put but Brandon Jackson is the only real injury replacement guy that had much buzz through 8 weeks. Seems like in normal seasons there’s 3-4 Shonn Greenes and Jamaal Charleses.
Yep and I have no idea how I didn’t bid more money on Torain. I knew he was going to be something yet in a league where I’m desperate for RB I don’t bother to put in a $20 or $30 bid? Bah. At least Blount is looking decent.
Gonzo is eighth in targets at the position; Clark was fifth. I highly doubt Manning is going to look for Temme as much as Clark- and Temme won’t be playing Houston again.
The playoff picture will be somewhat interesting. The favorites currently are Ellis Dee, Stringer, and Isotopes winning the divisions, with Hamlet taking the wild card. Hamlet has a strong chance to take his division, but then Stringer probably gets the wildcard.
The main competitors for the wild card would be furt and I. I’ve still got a chance to win my division - I’m behind a game, but ahead one game in division record.
I get a chance to start to pave my own way to the playoffs. I play furt and Hamlet over the next two weeks, which would strengthen my wildcard chance. And in the last week of the season, I play isotopes, so our division could potentially come down to that game.
Too early to know anything yet really. I have this feeling of doom about my team where I think I’m gonna end up finishing like 8th, but I’ve got a real shot at the playoffs.
Why do I keep on getting Darrius Heyward-Bey on my team, even though I really don’t think more of him than any of you? I drafted him in the 17th Round last year, finally managed to trade him about a month ago, then he hit the waiver wire and promptly had a 100+ yard receiving day, so I spent $13 on him … for some reason.
Oh, and I no doubt blasted everyone out of the water with my preposterous $36 bid on Jason Campbell.
I always suck hard in every league when the Giants have a bye, and with back to back Jets/Giants bye weeks I dove right off a cliff. Hopefully the Seahawks make everything better this week.
I started Tamme over Gonzo today and I’m not sure I’ll look back. Which is funny, since that trade with all the fuss will end up doing almost nothing for me - Gonzo may be a backup and I doubt I’ll be starting Orton over Rodgers.
