Owen Hargreaves! Do me a favour! . . . it’s getting sillier and sillier . . .
Presumably we still own Rebrov, we hold his Registration and have him under some kind of contract ? . . . I agree about him being a black mark on Pleat’s record and wanting to redeem himself.
Okay, I’m off to face the West End shoppers before making my way up the High Road. Lets hope we’re out the bottom three by 9.50pm.
We recently played Wimbledon six times in a season - christ on a bike it was horrible.
The doomsday scenario is that the Arsenal could actually be the team that relegates us. I really wouldn’t want to be in N17 if that happens. They’ll need helicopters to get the gooners out.
We have Birmingham tonight - so tonight is a good time to commit crimes anywhere else than N17 as every policeman in London will be at the lane tonight. As will I, although I could do with a DVD.
After reading about that trial in Germany with people queuing up to be eaten, I can only conclude that there probably are people whose idea of fun is watching Arsenal v Middlesboro…
It’s a strange world we live in…
. . . or Spurs with Guf Poyet in midfield; But this isn’t the time to denegrate.
4 - 1 and job done on mucho depleted jumped-up First Div opposition. No more than that. But it was nice
Some very good signs, as well. Very positive evening.
Leeds away at the weekend is a delicious prospect on several levels! Owl - Sorry, but the Registration thing you claim doesn’t make sense. People don’t give away Registrations, especially when they’re PLC’s and the asset cost £11 million.
The thing with the registration is that it should be with the turks - I think we DID give it away as a sweetner.
He is in dispute with the Turks as they haven’t paid up his contract but have released his registration, ie they consider by letting him go, and maybe picking up a signing on fee somewhere they have discharged their duty.
So he is either:
A) A free agent with no claim on any club.
b) Someone released by fenerbahce, who is in dispute with them over the terms of his (effective) redundancy.
Either way he is free to play for who ever he wants - and sign a contract with who ever he likes.
It’s one for the lawyers - but at a purely footballing level - he can play for Spurs if he wants to.
Latest mad rumour - Trappatoni to take over with Hughes as number two to take over once Trappatoni has steadied ship. Loads of cods if you ask me.
More worryingly - David Platt was in the Directors Box last night (advantages of a seat in West Upper). No. More. Gooners. Ever. Not. Negotiable.
The game was good though - Dalmat - I hope we make him permamnent - he was on fire against Palace too and gives us a bit of creativity, now we need solidity - some one like that afghan hound Lilly Savage - how do I despise him? Let me count the ways…(I’d love him in my team though. With Tarricco.)
Have the wheels fallen off at Chelsea? Please, please, please. I see that Ronaldo was due to “watch” CFC last night. Ho and furthermore hum.
We got a point at Southampton. A point. Yay. So I’m told, Southampton played like absolute shite, and we should really have been able to make a win out of it.
I have absolutely no clue how LCFC are going to perform the rest of the season. We could buck up a bit — it’ll only take a handful of wins for things to look brighter. Or we could go down.
I think Wolves and Pompey will definitely be down (unless Redknapp and Smith pull off something incredible in the remaining weeks of the transfer window — I am of the opinion that the transfer window system has really hobbled them as a management team). who else? Could be us. Could be Leeds. Could be Blackburn. could be Man City if they aren’t careful. Depends what will happen after Keegan’s inevitable resignation. Or if anyone can unsour Anelka.
tansu - If there’s one thing I’d say with certainty about Man. City it’s that Keegan blew it by allowing Fowler and MacManaman to team up again. There is nothing more destructive and negative in the dressing room than those two start their back stabbing and opinionated scouser awkwardness.
Keegan was a fool if he thought he could stop them or that they’d grown out of it.
I think they’re destroying the dressing room. And Anelka.
Fwiw, I think Leicester are right on the cusp, together with, say you say, Leeds Blackburn and one or two surprises.
*"The club can confirm that Sergei Rebrov has completed his move to Turkish outfit Fenerbache.
An 18-month loan deal has been agreed with an option for Fenerbache to sign him on a permanent basis.
The Ukrainian international joined us from Dynamo Kiev for the 2000-01 campaign and he scored 16 goals in 75 games for us in all competitions.
We wish him well."*
that’s the last mention of Rebrov on the official site: 18 month loan, beginning a year ago.
As for Dalmat, he was up against Darren Carter – third choice full back – in the first half last night and against similarly impressive opposition vs. Palace.
He’s here because Inter couldn’t sort out his temperament and consistency problems. As far as I’m concerned, he still has those problems.
Plus a lot of players can make a good early impression before defenders work them out.
I wish it were otherwise with Dalmat, but I remain highly sceptical. Give me Andy Reid any day of the week.
IMHO Dalmat is greatly improved - he has lost a LOT of weight and his game has improved as a result. No idea about his temperament.
My understanding of the Rebrov this is that we gave away his registration - rather than face the prospect of him coming back on the payroll. That is why it is the Turks he is suing for unpaid wages - not us.
The bottom line is that he can play for us if we wanted. We would have to sort out how to pay him (month by month I suspect).
His registration wasn’t worth anything to us - we couldn’t give him away, and we did try. So if it could persuade Fenerbahce to carry on paying his wages we would have parted with it with a happy heart.
This from his Agent’s (Andrew Blocksage) site: (incidentally; £750,000 pa - We were paying him at least £6,000 per week more than that). >>>>>>>>>>>

LEAGUE CAREER RECORD
Season Club Games Goals
Sergei is a full international and has played over 30 games for his country scoring
12 goals. He was a £11,000,000 transfer to Tottenham in the 2000/2001 season.
His current loan deal with Fenerbahce will be terminated once the player has accepted terms with another club. He has started all pre season games for his current team and scored 4 goals already. He is currently contracted to Fenerbahce but is looking to cancel his contract and move on a FREE TRANSFER. His expected wages are based around £ 750,000 a year.I have the exclusive permission the player and his main agent to negotiate a move for him. Please contact either myself or my colleague Oliver Fowler if you wish to take this matter further.
If we’re talking right-side midfield, I’d play the percentage game and take Irish Andy Reid over dodgy Frenchie Dalmat any day of the week - but then we’ve also got Simon Davies.
How about blowing a few mill on a defensive midfielder instead, keep on with the loan if poss and keep on buying other cheap kids with potential cos we haven’t the money to burn. That’s what I would do.
Re: Rebrov - God knows what the legal situation is - but he’s clearly available on a free (and £750,000 pa). He could provide cover for freddie for a month.
IMHO the thing we need more than anything is a Defensive midfielder - A Savage/Keane type. I don’t know anything about the 1st division boys we seem to be picking up - hopefully one of them is our man.
Money: Don’t forget that we will be losing Redknapp; Anderton and Ziege (and Toda and the balsawood balkans) and prbably Carr from the wage bill in the summer so we do have some cash - plus the £15m rights issue is now going ahead, so we have money.
If your five a side needs a winger Andrei Kanchelskis is available at £4,000 a month. How the mighty are fallen. Plumbers earn more than that.
THis trappatoni thing seems to have legs - it’s in all the papers. He would be eligible for a travel pass - hopefully he won’t turn up at the lane waving it - it would bring back bad memories.
And that was the biggest ovation I have ever seen for a referee!
Nay! I can’t believe the Trappatoni thing. But stranger things have happened . . .
Brown on the bench yet ? Love to see him come on for Guf or Sharon after 65 mins at Leeds! Could be too soon, though.
