Grrr…make that $2875! :smack:
I have a birthday coming up (holy crap, I’ll be 45!) and I’ve asked my family to donate money to the Red Cross in my name instead of getting me gifts. Not sure how much that’ll amount to, though.
$300 including matching dollars from Viacom (plus an unknown future amount, depending on whether or not Thomas gets deployed to the hurrican area by FEMA).
Thread total: $3,175
I gave another $5 today.
$3,180
I gave $50 to our local fundraiser downtown. In less than 8 hours, the city of Bakersfield raised over $300,000 to send over (of course, we wont count all that…I just wanted to say once again how awesome that was :)).
Doper total is: $3,230
$25 to Red Cross.
I tend to keep my charitable donations private. But I am contributing to this as well.
$50 to Red Cross
Total Thread $3305 (including Bosda)
$100 to the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, which will send it to the Red Cross after my employer matches it. So $200 total. (While I live in St. Louis, my employer is Tenessee-based and wanted to do things this way.)
Dang.
I was going to match the thread at whatever point it hit tonight, but we’ve already surpassed my ability to do that. What a great crowd.
$3505 coming in.
I’m adding $2000.
$5505 new total.
I donated $50 online to the Red Cross and then, when I was grocery shopping, there was a donation cup at the cash register with a sign that said the chain would be matching donations (up to either $100,000 or $1,000,000 - I don’t remember how many zeros there were). I didn’t have much cash on me, but my measly $2.00 donation there will be matched up to $4.00.
New total $5559
$50 canuckbucks, makes it $5599USD
$50 to Red Cross via iTunes.
Also donated a pile of clothes which I had been planning to take to the Goodwill down the street. Someone at work is taking collections and driving them to N.O.
Tot.: $5649
Relatives unemployed here, hard to make ends meet, full time student with suddenly less available money…
Never mind that! There are others that need more help.
$100 via Amazon to the Red Cross.
New SDMB total: $5749
$100 to Red Cross so far and will donate more when the George and Bill show hits the road.
$5849 so far. Won’t someone donate $1.00?
$101 American Red Cross
$100 Noah’s Wish
Brings us up to $6050!
(I don’t know if this counts, but my family’s foundation will be donating $7500 to ARC and $2500 to SAR efforts.)
Alpine, that is wonderful news. May I suggest that like everyone else here, if your family’s foundation contribution to Katrina was a result of a decision you made that it would be appropriate to add it to the SDMB total. I would regard it something like a corporate matching donation. Your call
$5.00 through my school to the Red Cross. Not a lot, but it’s truly all I can afford.
Total: $6055
My school is hoping to donate at least $2500 total. Seems ridiculously small, but our student body is smaller than 500 people, and a substantial number of us are piss-poor trying to afford tuition money.
$50
Total $6105
$100 through my husband’s company, which is matching, which makes it $200. This doesn’t include the material donations we’ve been making through other sources (to the Gulfport Armed Forces Retirement Home evacuated to their sister DC facility, to friends in Houma desperate for basic supplies because of shortages in their area, etc.).
Total $6305.
