At 48+ hours (overtime) why would scum vote on anyone if one of their own isn’t on the block? I think it is interesting how I got piled on right as we were closing in on time, and now not much is happening.
Is there some sort of informal protocol we can form to avoid this tomorrow? It seems like in this setup votes before 48 hours are pretty darn important.
Okay, this may not be the most reasoned vote, but I’m going to vote zeriel, and here’s why.
So, zeriel is voting Hero for advocating holding out on a Mason claim, but if you go back and look at Hero’s stance (see quote below, plus also the discussion between he and I on Masons), he’s fairly clearly (at least to me) in favor of the Masons claiming. Even if zeriel didn’t interpret this particular post (shortly before his vote) as pro-claiming, there are later ones that are, and zeriel’s posted since then without any clarification or correction on the matter.
Back up. You said that the term was, and I quote, “established”. How can it be established if you can’t point to a single time that the phrase has ever been used as you assert?
Sorry I’m all over the place, just trying to get caught up.
Let’s just assume Nanook is telling the truth for a moment. If everybody wants to lynch him Today, great, let’s lynch him Today. However, if we’re not going to lynch him Today, people shouldn’t be wasting their chance to “cure” him on Day 1!
Look, this role is as confirmable as any I’ve ever seen in a game. If nobody votes for him in a Day, he dies. If not, he’s lying. This will happen soon enough, there’s no reason for everybody to waste their unique vote on him at this point in time, unless it’s been agreed upon in advance that he’s going to be the one chosen to be lynched Today.
Here’s the problem with this. If Nanook, in fact, is an anti-town (scum or PFK) role, wedon’t want to give him an opportunity to do his evil Troll-magic tonight. Because I think it’s likely he is anti-town, my vote stays where it is.
Because he quoted a post right next to one the one in question, while when one refreshes a page or is reading newest posts, they might not realize there’s another page. I understand your point, but I haven’t got anything other than drunk intuition to guide me at this point.
Sorry been flying all over the shop (currently in Singapore, very nice it is to)and not had a lot of time.
Regarding Nanook
Something isn’t right,
I don’t like his claim that his role name is not there in post 135 (og original role name list post)
I’d bet his screen name wasn’t there, but his role was.
Secondly all the roles with powers revealed so far are consistent with the colour, as is mine. It has been mentioned that colour and roles may not be related.
I don’t think so for this game based on what has been revealed so far and from my own information. The description of his role power (or restriction or whatever you wish to call it) does not sound like a non disruptive element of the board, who need to go.
so ban Nanook
I was expecting a flurry of posts overnight. This is disappointing.
Nanook of the North Shore is so far ahead in votes that he’ll (almost) definitely be banned if the day ends at the 72 hour mark. Pedescribe said we can’t risk letting Nanook of the North Shore use a megapower. If he had a megapower that relied on him staying alive via unique votes, I still think he’d keep his mouth shut today after someone had already voted for him. Then he’d be able to use the power at night, and not be in as much danger of being banned. Yes, I know, WIFOM.
If the day lasts longer than 72 hours, could we discuss the possibility that Nanook of the North Shore, if not pro town or PFK, could also be a Jester type role? In that case, he made a brilliant move.
Moving on. NaturalBlondChap, is that a role claim? Also, since you bring up screen names, who wants to talk about those? Or is that anti-town in some way?
I think Kat’s justification for voting zeriel is good. Zeriel, what do you think about post 435 by Hero From Sector 7G?
Finally, I’ll vote to Ban DiggitCamara
For the reasons I’ve already outlined. Recap: no vote at the 48-hour deadline, very little participation, and 2 CMs voted for him and no one tried to get a band wagon rolling.
Sorry about not being in last night, some relatives were up from Cali so I spend two hours on the road to my parents’ and back after work (plus the hours spent, y’know, there)/
I’m still reading through to catch up, but Hero’s dropped enough on my suspicion list that it’s not worth keeping a vote on him.
unban Hero From Sector 7G
That having been said, who to vote for? I’ve got a lot of low-level suspicions, as outlined in previous posts, but nothing I can point to and say “I’d definitely like that person to die tonight because of X and Y”. I’m somewhat torn about Nanook right now, since on one hand the analysts are correct in that overcomplex roles tend to be scum/pfk (but see also the Chia Bingo Manager). I admit to a bit of a vicious streak too in that if he’s a Jester making a beautiful play, I’d love to just end the game and get back to actually playing mafia (I hate the Jester-wins mechanic almost as much as I hate recruitment.)
OK’s reasoning on Diggit is also at least plausible. Not sure it rises to the level of a lynch yet.
I’ll be back in a bit to vote, I need to find a coin or some dice or somethin’ to decide between my low-level suspicions. (or, y’know, re-read the thread to do so, which is what I’m actually going to do). I’m comfortable with having no vote out when it’s almost certain Nanook is going to stretch unless he gets suddenly eloquent.
I’d love to get “suddenly eloquent”, but I don’t see how anything I could say is going to make a difference at this point. I can’t say “don’t vote for me, vote for this guy who is much scummier and here’s why!”, since it’s Day 1 and, barring a monumental screw up, no one is really all that scummy Day 1. I can’t simply defend myself against the accusations thrown at me, since there’s no real reason being used for the votes. Half the people at this point are voting for simply because I have the most votes and are therefore an easy target.
Some are voting because they think I’m lying, which makes no freaking sense at all. Why the hell would I make up a bizarre and difficult to pull off restriction? Maybe in the gastard game that would make sense to try, but this isn’t the gastard game. My restriction is exactly what I said it was.
Others are voting because they think I might be scum/PFK. Scum? Really? You think a scum player would get stuck with that sort of restriction? The mods would be better off just cutting the role out altogether and balancing it from there, since a scum with that restriction is terrible. And if they did stick the restriction on a scum and balanced it by giving the player a big power, why the hell would I open my mouth when I had already met my requirement for the Day when amrussell voted for me? I could have said nothing, cruised along for a few Days on voting for myself and getting scum buddies to do it and then used up whatever super powered ability I supposedly would have. PFK makes a little more sense, but the same issues comes up. Why say anything Today when I already had a vote and had met my requirement? If I wait until Tomorrow to say anything, I’m in a much stronger position to change people’s minds by arguing in a positive fashion, pointing at a different target rather than the desperation defense I’m forced into now.
There was a discussion on the spoiler board for the Skrull game that’s relevent right here. It has nothing to do with that game itself, and will not spoil anything for anyone so don’t worry. There was a lot of talk about how people in these games always seem to jump on anyone that opens their mouth and shares info. Look at how close Idle came to getting lynched. Or how close I came to it as well. And what was our sin? Not acting scummy. Not voting terribly. No, our sin was opening our mouths and claiming, for whatever reasons we may have had. And what’s happening here? I feel that I have no real choice but to lay out a partial claim, and I get jumped all over for it. Pathetic.
I feel very strongly that Nanook is not mafia. He may have a non-town WC, but I think the odds are good that he is town. The role that he claimed, and the manner in which he claimed it, are absolutely not the words of scum. Trouble is, I don’t have a better lynch target to suggest right now, which makes it difficult for people to unvote. Working on it…
I’m fine with being lazy. I said I was playing a hunch. It’s Day 1 and we haven’t a shred of information anyway. As of now, peekercpa is the only person in this game who really rubs me the wrong way.
