Sdmb mafia

Thanks.

This is supposed to be fun.

I want to win but but not at the expense of having a good time.

I have never modded a game but I imagine there is a lot of work. Our “jobs” as players is to engage each other and entertain our overlords.

Sorry, that’s why I don’t agree with you pachinko.

A little thought while relaxing is a good thing.

It is not obfuscation, but merely fun and mentally expanding. Crap, play chess when hammered. Weaknesses are exploited easily and strengths are flimsy.

Fucking on and off the soap box again.

And Kat will tell you that I am less random here than in the off board game.

Gastards.

The missus has a penis?

I never fail to disappoint. Or something.

An Electoral MMP

Tuesday was a pretty relaxing day. Elections can be stressful, but it was clear fairly early on (All hail Nate Silver) that Obama would win with ease. Once Pennsylvania was called, McCain’s chances were remote, and I had won myself a barbeque lunch next 7/4 from my conservative cousin. After Ohio went to Obama, it was all over except the counting. Sure I’m still reloading this page once every 7 minutes or so to see if Al Franken has inched closer, but the question is only how great a day was it, not whether or not it was a good day.

You may think betting on an election is odd, but this isn’t the first time I’ve done it. Of course money is boring prize, so I try to always make it something more interesting. It all started in 2000, when I was a freshman in college. I had made a bet with a guy living down the hall from me in my dorm while returns were starting to trickle in. If Bush won, I would buy him and his companions enough alcohol to get through the weekend. If Gore won he would get boat ride tickets for me and this girl. I watched in the lounge with him and a couple likeminded conservatives while getting some early Mafia practice in on how to argue against the mob.

The night started well enough with Gore winning all the states he needed to win. The girl wandered in, and was highly confused that a bet involving her had been made while she was napping. Gore won Pennsylvania and then Florida, and looked like he had the election sown up. My comrades were getting desperate, loudly cheering on victories in the Dakotas.

But then they took back Florida.

“You can’t take back a state. You gave it to him already” I vainly yelled chucking whatever was closest at the T.V. The rest of the night is kind of a blur. I stayed up well into the night watching Florida go Bush and then back to undecided once more, stopping only when newscaster could no longer make coherent sentences. Actually, that kind of goes for the rest of college too.

The important lesson here is to always vote, for you never know what could be riding on it.

Except you PeekerCPA* (Watcher, SN Hdeterminant) for you have been banished*.

Peek: to look or glance quickly or furtively; as in the game Peek-a-boo*

Peek-a-boo: game played by or with very young children, typically in which one covers the face or hides and then suddenly uncovers the face or reappears, calling “Peekaboo!”

E.R.: A popular U.S. Medical Drama, now in its 473rd and final season.

C.P.A.: The degree required for the profession that once was home to the world’s most boring people. Peeker single handily made the average accountant 10% more interesting.

Banished: No longer part of this game; see DiggitCamara*

DiggitCamara: Tub’a Smarties the Admin (Detective) is no longer present.

If you have been banned and wish to be spoiled pm Mhaye or I for the url and password.

…wait…did Diggit get banned? because he just said “not present”.

Weird.

Well, that’s pretty shitty. Looks like one of our third party teams can kill. I’m guessing it’s going to be a SK type role. We lost a player, but we’ve gained some info. It’s difficult to find SKs, but they’ll trip up (hopefully sooner than later).

I’m more concerned that we don’t know what the other PFKs power is, though.

Crap. I assume Diggit wasn’t allowed to investigate anyone on Night Zero (a quick glance through his posts reveals no likely breadcrumbs, and several statements that his role won’t be confirmable until ToMorrow).

What the heck is a Watcher?

A Watcher gets to Watch a specific player, and gets to see one or more of the following:

-Did the player perform an action (may/may not see what the action was)
-That player’s target (if any)
-Who targeted that player (if anyone)

My question is, what is an SN Hdeterminant?

Wiki page on Watchers

And Vote Zerial, for same reasons as Yesterday, just to see if he makes any response Today.

Well that sucks big donkey dicks. Go town go. Chicken shitz.

Oh… I’ve been banned already?!?

I’m innocent! I’m innocent, I tell you!

(scum? what scum?)

Go town!

If it is - then we better start to think about a mass claim or NO claim (unless at real risk). Otherwise we are just going to be setting up targets for him/her to hit.

As far as I go - I would like Town to cool down with the claims right now.

One of the first things we’ll have to decide Today is what to do about Nanook. Please don’t vote for him until we reach some sort of agreement, because otherwise the Mod kill option will be off the table for Today. Also, Nanook, did you use your power last night?

Here are some random observations:

  1. Peekercpa’s role isn’t on the list of roles provided by Og. When he role claimed, he said that he was “with the advisory board.” He also had a bread crumb to that effect before the role claim, where he said,

I’m not sure why he did this, but now we know that it’s possible that Nanook’s role isn’t on the list either.

  1. SN Hdeterminant is probably peekercpa’s screen name. We got one for DiggitCamara as well, and it’s clearly a reference to TubaDiva. I’m not sure to whom peekercpa’s sn refers, and I wonder why we didn’t get NBC’s screen name.

  2. I know my previous attempt to find scum via vote records failed (Sorry, DiggitCamara!), but here I go again. For a relatively long time, the following 6 people had their vote on Nanook: BS PI, Hero from Sector 7G, Peekercpa, Oredigger77, DiggitCamara, NBC. Pedescribe also voted for him for a while. If there is at least one scum among the people who voted for Nanook, then most likely it’s either Boozahol Squid, P.I or Hero From Sector 7G, because the rest are either confirmed town, or masons.

While the day is still new I think we need to figure out two things.

  1. What to do about Nanook

  2. How to make the undetermined day end work for us.

I still don’t trust Nanook, and we now have evidence of a killing third party. I’m willing to let him go simply by lack of voting.

I’m still of the opinion that EVERYONE needs to vote before 48 hours. We had too many lurkers yesterday. However, at this very moment I’m going to withhold my own vote until we decide on a strategy. I could see using FOSes up until 48 hours as a useful tactic too.

Eh,

Og occasionally leaves stuff off for reasons of his own. He never would make a mistake.

Peekercpa was a SDSAB

NBC’s Screen Name was Reesh.

Never underestimate the possibility of an overzealous Vig, either.

I’ve got a feeling you’re right, though. And if it turns out that Nanook is the SK, and he was the one who killed our cop, I’m gonna have a lot of ‘I told ya so’ to hand out.

Dude is -so- a fucking Troll.

I was going to say that, but I was trying to get out of the house. I was going to use the word irresponsible, though.

Og, does this mean that Peeker was a Watcher and a SDSAB member?

I’m getting to the point where I really see very little difference in terms of game effect between an SK and a Vig. Other than the fact that SKs occasionally manage to actually pick off scum.

So we don’t get alignment info on those who are Night-killed? That’s going to make this a lot harder.
