I think there’s a bug in Discourse polls that’s triggered when you scroll the poll off of the screen (presumably connected to the whole infinite-scroll thing, where it dynamically loads and unloads parts of the thread as you scroll).
Switch the computer off and on again. It’s an old bug.
And thanks for the vote! I can use it ![]()
Perhaps we could limit the descriptions to something like the one that Bullitt posted …and then hide it so those that want a longer story can take it into account by clicking on the Summary while those that just want a pic and a title can do that
Summary
Chilean sea bass, hot off the barbecue and ready for the appropriate accompaniments to be added. This is a fish that is famously rich and buttery, which I think comes through in the picture. Also known by the less attractive name of Patagonian toothfish, it’s relatively scarce and expensive, but well worth it!
Way to go, @romansperson! Your tomato array deservedly took the gold this month.
Let us know our April theme.
mmm
Yes, a well-deserved win @romansperson - it definitely got one of my votes, so I’m happy to see others agreed. The colors are great, the framing is great, and even though I don’t really like those beefsteak-style tomatoes, they look Delicious indeed.
I also appreciated the colors and the macro-esque approach that @Jeff_Lichtman and @Cervaise took this month. @Chefguy’s was probably the most mouth-watering image for me personally, and @beowulff’s lighting was evocative.
What a great month of photos!
I had a brief moment of indecision this month - do I vote for the image(s) I think is the most well-done, artistically speaking? Or the image that makes me salivate unto my keyboard?
I went with artistic (in other words, the quality of the image itself) and was pulling for @romansperson’s tomaters all the way.
I should mention, though, that @Chefguy’s pecan caramel rolls look deeeee-licious.
mmm
Thanks y’all. Those tomatoes ended up being a caprese salad:
My suggestion for this month’s theme is “Ancient.”
“Ancient” thread is alive.
I’m not sure I will have anything to contribute, maybe I’ll just do a selfie. ![]()
mmm
I just want to say thanks for that one vote, whoever you were. I knew I didn’t really have any good photos that fit last month’s theme, but I try to enter something every month anyway.
Even though my photo wasn’t a winner, I’d like to give a shout-out to 81301 Coffee and La Bonne Patisserie , which are conveniently located next door to each other, and are walking distance from our “cottage.” My favorite coffee shop and pastry place.

Second place is nothing to sniff at! ![]()
Earlier I was scrolling through to check out the winners and noticed that all of the ImgBB photos have disappeared. I checked an older thread and the ImgBB photos were also gone from that one. I kept the thread open for 20 minutes thinking maybe they were loading but they never showed up. Opening the image in a new tab gets the error “can’t reach this page”. Is this happening to anyone else? It would be sad if those photos are no longer available.
Not me, for the “Delicious” thread. I can still see them all.
I can still see all the Delicious entries.
(using Edge browser)
mmm
I didn’t think to check my phone. Everything is showing up there. I guess my laptop is not playing nice with ImgBB today, since I could see them all before. Come to think of it, I had some issues seeing photos with it when we first stopped using imgur, which is why I went with Shutterfly. Hopefully, it will start working for me again.
Hm, no accounting for tastes, I suppose. I thought that @romansperson 's tomato slices were too artificial: Like, they were arranged that way just for the picture. A number of others were still obviously composed, but in a way that was more natural: They could be like that just because someone was about to sit down to eat them.
For my choices, @Chefguy 's pecan buns probably would actually be the most delicious, but I thought that @AHunter3 's raspberry cheesecake photo did a better job at conveying deliciousness, so I gave that one my top vote. After that, @ShadowFacts and @Mean_Mr.Mustard had the best composition (and @ShadowFacts was intriguing in the mystery of what it had been before), so those were my other two votes.
Oh, and I also wanted to say that @romansperson 's choice of “Ancient” is a really good theme, because there are so many different ways you can go with that.
Always the bridesmaid. . .
Yes, I have two ideas for “Ancient” – not sure which way I will go, and which pic to use…
Brian
I was just grateful to get any votes at all, given how tenuous the photo’s connection to the theme.
ETA: I’m going to put a candidate up, though “ancient” is a matter of perspective.
