It seems to me that if there’s a time limit you have to beat, that’s still a kind of race. We’ve all heard of races against time.
In general entrants have always been free to interpret the theme however they wish, in other words there no judge determining what is and isn’t ok to enter in terms of fitting the theme. Of course if people disagree with your interpretation of the theme they may not vote for your entry.
I happen to work right across the road from a race track. I wonder if I can sneak a shot of them.
As it so happens, both of my races are time trials; a race against the clock such that the first participant may be (& in these two particular cases will be) finished & cooled down before the last ones are even warming up. Not every race is NASCAR-style with a tight pack. IOW, there may only be one participant in view.
Like downhill ski racing where the best time wins, eh? The eventing time is just one aspect of the overall final three-day score, but if it’s good by you I’ll go ahead with it. Further explanation of the competition, which occurs from local shows all the way to the Olympics:
'Zactly!
Heh. It occurs to me that “racing” is broad enough to encompass a harried commuter running desperately to catch a train.
This sums it up exactly. Enter whatever you think fits the theme; it is for you to decide what is appropriate.

June thread is active, we are off to the races.
mmm
Having been caught up in tending to my dad’s medical needs since the first week in April, I haven’t been able to participate in the photo threads. Right toward the end of the “Graffiti” contest, I found one that would have been a good photo, but it was on a sloped stone wall along I-84 in Portland, where I couldn’t stop to get a picture anyhow. In 6 foot high letters someone had tagged “Your silence will not protect you”. That one struck me as an appropriate sentiment.
Dang, another topic I don’t have anything for. Oh well, maybe July!
I thought so too, but it’s just a matter of interpretation. Could be raindrops rolling down a window, if you say it is!
Yep, I can’t imagine that I have anything remotely related to racing in my archives.
We shall see.
mmm
So this month, you’re saying I have a chance?
Talking about races as the subject is stated I find it remarcable that no one has yet brought up the subject of races. That does not square with my prejudices of the USA, I thought it was always on your mind.
Unfortunately I don’t have a fitting picture for that. Not even the emojis cover that, they all look white and either blond or red haired. ![]()
Well, the topic is actually racing, not races.
mmm
Yeah, it’s hard to interpret “racing” in the context of populations of humans. I’m sure there’s some way it could come up, but it’d be a stretch.

Sorry I misread. “Off to” changes the meaning, but
a stretch.
it is not. A too literal reading of the wording the mmm has slightly changed from racing to off to the races.
I still doubt I will find a picture, even if I stretch the meaning of words and Racing is back in La Liga (Spanish first division) after 14 years in segunda división.

I was trying to remember if I had any photos of the other, better, Racing (of Avellaneda) stadium, hinchada or something for this competition, but no such luck.
the other, better, Racing
I have no beef in this pique but, out of curiosity, are their supporters also called racinguistas?
