The jar of rose blossoms are the remnants of a bouquet of roses Mr. Roomie bought for Miss Roomie, just cuz yanno? Their story has a tiny bit of flamboyant romance to it.
I swear I had none amount of flowers in my yard two weeks ago except for some dying tulips and daffodils. Now look! There are also irises.
That looks like rose rootstock to me. They are pretty, and very, very hardy.
Edited because the SDMB delivered before I even asked! And hell yeah, they are hardy. It lived through first my hatred and then my neglect. And now I look forward to them producing many, many flowers all summer long.
