Uptownish in NYC… Washington Heights or Inwood, or in the Bronx north of Manhattan somewhere. One of the rather hilly parts.
I really like that one, but on balance I’d have gone with the one you picked as well.
Well, I posted one I took tonight, but I was really tempted to post this one.
Pareidolia, anyone?
The Monster in Iggy’s crate:
Kind of a Gary Larson panel
I like this one because it shows the source and result. Tight fit to the light and shadow topic. Wonderful image.
Self portrait with shovel, after the great Mullein hunt.
@Banquet_Bear - that is an amazing photo. Perfect chiaroscuro
Quick reminder that the competition closes on Monday, I this is one of the strongest months we’ve had so far.
I think I picked a good category. I was worried a bit with the slow start. But then it got rolling and there are so many absolutely stunning photos! It’s going to be a tough vote.
I think it’s a great choice. I love that there’s such a variety in the entries, from classical landscape shots to portraits to abstract still life pictures.
It was hard. But that’s the fun of it. Everything I looked at this month, I paid attention to the light and shadow.
…and we’re done! Thanks everyone. Best month yet. Poll to follow later!
Poll’s up, in the competition thread as usual.
I honestly think this is the strongest month we’ve had. Great work everyone; picking three is going to be tough.
This month was so hard. There were lots of jaw-dropping photos and so many wonderful interpretations of the theme! I’ve been thinking on it for the whole month. I hope some of this month’s entries get another chance in another theme. They were all fantastic.
All of these competitions have had many fantastic photos, but this month was the best of them all. It was not easy to pick just three.
Amazingly enough, the photo I picked as the best isn’t even in the top five.
Three of my four runner-ups hadn’t gotten any votes at the time I voted.
I guess I’ll join the chorus and proclaim that this was the best month yet.
I could easily see 10-12 entries worthy of the prize.
mmm
Quick reminder - voting closes tomorrow evening (my time - just over 24 hours from now).
