Not quite that nice!
Maybe. The suggested Google search seems to show mostly well-graded dirt or gravel roads, which any car ought to be able to handle, including this one. Such roads, if not very well maintained, could get rutted and uneven, and this car, very obviously, could get stuck on such roads, at least as easily as any common sedan. Ground clearance is the crucial criterion, here, along with the approach, breakover, and departure angles, and this car looks like it just doesn’t have it.
I’d have no problem trusting it on a road like this…
But then, as I said, I think almost any car should be able to handle that.
A road like this, I’d be less confident in this car…
This might be where the A/T tires come in, allowing it to get a better grip on mud, but as I learned the very hard way, some months ago, mud puddles have a way of turning out to be deeper than you expect. Even with A/T tires, a car with so little ground clearance could get stuck, possibly even on the puddle shown in that last image.
And a road like this, I’d have to say no way in Hell…
A car might be able to plow through that last one… right now. But when the mud dries…
I wouldn’t want to try that last road alone, even in my Bronco.
Too easy to dig yourself four holes…
That last muddy trail, if you can keep your momentum up, that might be fun.
Hey @Galactus I like your photo!
@Fiendish_Astronaut , that photo of the fellas in the the truck looks familiar - have you shared that previously? I had a couple of “blue” photos that I used before, but chose not to use them again here. Just a personal preference.
I may well have done - if you’ve seen it before I probably have.
I’d be more than happy to post an alternative, especially as these threads are about sharing our photography (for me at least) rather than trying to win, but it would be too late to delete the original so would confuse matters.
I keep thinking how nice it would be to walk into a gallery with all this month’s pictures hung in it. Beautiful!
One thing about using the same photo again - certainly part of what people are voting for is a general “which ones do I like the most” But a big part is how well do they represent the theme. So a photo posted in one month may do ok, but in a different month do really well because it really fits the theme
If I had one that I remember doing well in the polls, I probably wouldn’t use it, but if it didn’t do very well there, I might put it in another month if it really fit the theme
I believe we decided some time back that it was ok to use the same photo unless it was a winner in the past. Some photos will work for different themes.
Oh okay, that’s good to know. Thanks!
Dangit, people, stop posting so many cool pictures! Some of us are going to have to actually choose between them, you know.
A couple of blue photos I took today, while out with my wife. We went down to SMOCA, and wandered around the mall.
Very pretty!
The 2nd photo is inside of a James Turrell Skyspace at SMOCA. It’s a fun place to visit.
…Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art, I guess?
And I had to double-check your profile to get the S. I would have guessed Seattle, if not for the cacti.
The rooster reminds me of some public art that was circulating around Cleveland about a decade ago: There were a bunch of single-color molded plastic animals in various public spaces, and they were moved occasionally (either by the artist, or by others). The most prominent ones were four-foot-tall meerkats, and snails of sizes ranging from about two to ten feet.
Yes, Scottsdale.
And the exhibit you saw came to the Desert Botanical Garden one year. Snails and Meerkats and Alligators, Oh my!
January poll is up.
mmm
@Bullitt, that’s awesome! You must be so proud.
