I believe it is open enrollment, but I am sure the people that actually play can tell you more:
Current thread for the weekly SDMB poker game.
We’ve bounced around different hosts over the years, mostly because of the difficulty of getting access for U.S. players. Currently we’re using software from Poker Mavens that actually lets us host our own game, and the client runs in a web browser (which makes us accessible to just about any platform). We also run a chat room on AIM, for game comments and just generally shooting the breeze.
We’ve added several new players in the past few months. It’s a pretty social game, although we try to take the play somewhat seriously. It’s not the devil-may-care, all-in push-fest that some online games can be, as one newbie recently pointed out.
I can’t possibly make those times, unfortunately, except on the odd occasion (annoyingly I’d have been able to do it in the most recent game!)
Any interest in another game, ideally on the weekend?
Or I’ll play someone HU4ROLLZ (:D)now on Poker Mavens, whatever that is…
I am willing at other times. I can be available most evenings.
I’d possibly be up for a 2nd poker game.
i’m in pretty much whenever. i kind of like thursdays because it is just funsies. but it’s serious funsies if you get my drift.
and i don’t mind kicking in a buck or two just to keep it interesting. but i have no interest in playing a pay for play on line poker site.
shit if i am going to lose real cash i want to look at the souls in the eyes.
I’d play if it’s for money.
BTW, it’s not hard to make a small deposit on a site like PokerStars; just a phone call.
Nah, we play for funsies, and it is highly competitive. C’mon join, what have you got to lose except an hour or so from your life?
and it is NOT an all-in fest right at the beginning and the pace is pretty quick.
Details? I was able to fund it with a prepaid Visa from a gas station, but the markup on those transactions is huge - like $5 to fund the card $30.
I’m not up on all the latest details; suggest checking with support for the site you are interested in … they have lots of options, easiest is probably just doing an eCheck kind of transfer from your bank account. Don’t freak out – hundreds of thousands of people do it regularly and I have never heard of a single problem with any of the major poker sites. You do have to provide your real identity information when opening an account; poker sites take security very seriously.
Yes, there will be some sort of fee involved but I suspect you could have put more than $30 on the card for that $5 … and even so, that fee is a one time cost; you can turn your $30 into who knows how much money without paying any additional transfer fees.
You obviously don’t know me - I turned that $30 into $1 and change pretty quickly.
