This has probably been asked before but after going through this thread I get the impression that the majority of SDMBers are either athiests or agnostics. In many other threads I see a disproportionate number (as compared to national percentages) of people who are denouncing a creator.
I would appreciate a poll of what everyone’s religion is. I’m not asking for your reasons why you don’t believe or why you switched from Zen Buddhism to being the head priestess at the temple of Loki, I am just wondering what your current religious state is. From what I have been seeing so far, I would bet that over 30% of SDMBers are atheist, as opposed to the reported 10% . What this has to say about the people who make up the SDMB, I won’t venture to guess.
That could well be the case, and in part because the SDMB isn’t by any stretch a wholly-American group. The reported figure for the UK is 15%, and I always strongly suspect that these statistics tend to underestimate the true level of agnosticism, if not of atheism.
I’m a dyselexic insomniac agnostic. I frequently sit up all night long wondering whether there really is a Dog.

Since I’m in the neighborhood, I’ll slide this thread over to the In My Humble Opinion forum. IMHO is the place for polls and such like. The GQ forum is for questions with factual answers.
Strong atheist, although it would have been nice to be born in a universe ruled by the old Greek deities. Zeus! Now that’s my idea of a god - horny, hot-tempered and handy with a thunderbolt.
