Seal 'em Up!

Instead of the military being placed in a very vulnerable position of going into caves after UBL, wouldn’t it be easier to either gas him out or seal him in?

I doubt you’d be able to gas him out. For one you don’t know how many exits the cave has or how deep it goes. So you wouldn’t know how much gas to use. You could be pumping the gas in and it’s just getting vented into the air on the other side of the mountain.

If you just sealed the caves up you would have the same problem. How many exits are there? How much air does he have in there? Where is the air supply coming from? How long can they last in there? You can’t have someone sitting outside for 3 years waiting for them to blast his way out. Also how would you seal the caves up? It’s pretty hard to seal up a large cave entrance when some one is shooting at you. And another thing how would you know you’ve trapped OBL in the cave if no body has been in there?

Wouldn’t they need to know what cave he is in before they can seal or gas or it? From my understanding there are a vast number of caves in the area OBL is believed to be hiding. Sealing or gasing all of them does not seem feasible.

I have never served in the military or have any background in the subject. This is just my take on the question.

There are several articles about this right now on Yahoo’s news so I wont post links but the ‘seal em up’ strategy is what the Russians suggested. They learned this the hard way.
