I just got an email invitation telling me that Sean Combs/P. Diddy/Puffy Daddy/whatever is going to be a guest on an upcoming episode of Inside the Actors Studio.
Buwhaa!?
What the *hell *has he done to be on The Actor’s Studio!? He was in one limited run play on Broadway (the only reason people even paid attention to it was because of his celebrity) and like 2 or 3 crappy movies that no one’s heard of.
Seriously, wtf? Have they run out of actual interesting *actors *to interview?
Combs’ marketing machine made Lipton an offer he couldn’t refuse- someone new for him to suck up to. I love the Inside the Actor’s Studio series but hard hitting journalism it ain’t- it’s a big love letter to the celeb.
I was going to counter this weirdness with Snoop Dogg’s visit to Martha Stewart’s show. They baked brownies! A bit of research reveals that wasn’t his first visit.
After all, Martha actually did time. And she’s definitely cooler than James Lipton…
So you’ve never heard of* Monster’s Ball*, then? A small part, but a good one. And I hear he was pretty good in Raisin in the Sun, but I haven’t seen that.
Thing is, I fully believe that Snoop Dogg makes brownies. He could probably learn some things from Martha about cooking technique. It’s weird (ok, really, really weird) but it’s legit.
What on God’s green earth does Sean Combs have to say about acting?
I also thought it was odd that they chose Diana Ross. I know she’s starred in three movies but they weren’t exactly great and they were just vehicles for her. She did get an Oscar nomination for Lady Sings the Blues, but it was pretty meh. And then she’s been in a few made for TV things.
Second on this. He was quite good in this part. Now, that by itself isn’t enough to say he deserves to be on The Actor’s Studio, but its not a completely out of left field proposition.
He also had a decent small role in Jon Favreau’s movie, Made.
